Temporary gods

I stand against cosmic chance
I stumble, I fall
Listen to radio - classic songs
Too anxious to try Cohen
Or Cave

Semitic aspects of my heritage
Know Jesus
Some matjamesian mystics
Baby boomer promises
And hand rolled cigarettes

Every six weeks I conjure
Catharsis aided by a warm
Septuagenarian just keeping
His eye on me -
A delicious game

Elementary tasks are ignored
As the neuroleptic kicks in
My axons, my dendrites
Permeated once again
My aorta or somethin’ hurt today

Best man again – 3rd time
Guess I was a good mate
March, speech done
And I haven’t seen this guy
Since 2002

Rich man, holidays a lot
We got pissed together
When we were thirteen
Down the creek
Before they built the freeway

And I cannot pray, now
False ideas, false people
Clog the front
Letterman and Leno
Temporary gods

And you who reads this
Cast aside your presumption
I won’t 'make it’
Don’t want to -
Pain does that

I stand against cosmic chance
"my heart in hiding, stirred for a bird"

Sometimes you gotta' hide
And sometimes you gotta' fight

Take care mate ;-)

Hey Unck!

It's Princess Bec. I have joined the forum. I read your poem, it was great! I love you so much and really miss having you here in Perth. I was so proud to get on the forum and see "Boss" submitted a poem yesterday. Keep it up Unck, you have great talent!
