Morning Meditation

Morning Meditation
I arose earlier today
And in the dark I sat
Wrestling with my unruly mind
Wanting it to still
I rumbled down the rails
Of familiar meditations
Like a sheepdog running after
Silly little strays
A recent route of escape
Is Leonard Cohen's Forum
A favorite pasture of
One lazy little lamb
As from a Bolt of Lightning
I suddenly was struck
"Jesus Mary and Joseph!"
I've joined a bloody fan club!

reminds me of a melanie song
we were so close
there was no room
we bleed inside
each other's wounds
some came to sing
some came to pray
some came to keep
the dark away

That's a lovely song, jack. What is it called? I would like to learn it.

I think I remember you admitting way back in some thread that (and I am paraphrasing the memory) you will go to any lengths for a 'humor' opportunity. Me too, even the hallowed and sacrosanct Jikan Forum will not be spared if a chuckle is possible.
I have never been a member of a fan club. This is the realization that dawned on me this morning, maybe I am now! Groups of fans hang out and sharing the experience, the appreciations; perhaps a little animal-packish!
I am starting to not like that idea too much!
Of course Leonard Cohen's Forum is not a 'bloody fan club' .....jack......please impute poetic licence.

Jack is perhaps the least funny man I have never met, and that cracks me up. I guess he meant he will travel miles to a Comedy Club to sit in the audience.
Just remember, Daka, the world is a dangerous place. Only yesterday I went into McDonalds and punched a shop assistant in the face.

Only yesterday I went into McDonalds and punched a shop assistant in the face.
It is quite rare lately that I find myself in a MacDonalds.
When I do I always feel deep compassion:
For the poorly-paid help, struggling to stay afloat
For the materialistic managers manifesting their dream
For middle managers squashed between the two
For the stressed hungry-ghost machines lining up
For the children tricked into taking the paltry bait
Now for the forum member too who lost his cool
And the fellow who had a date with his karmic fate
I am curious about why you told me about this?
And how you feel today?

There are many rooms in my father's house.
There is the typical fan-club side to all this.
But it's the minority.
Basic simple loonies, are the majority.
Fortunately you don't find your typical
"mutual admiration societies," or cliques, around here.
Nobody likes each other that much.
~~
Most people, around here, regard LC as something of a mantra.
Just something to come back to, every once in a while.
Until there's no need for that either.
~~
"Appreciation Society" - is what I'd go with.
It wouldn't bother me if people thought of me
as part of something called that.

daka,
all those things you've listed there as your reactions when you go into a McDonnald's -
- Michael has the exact opposite reactions.
He is not a nice person at all.

Nobody likes each other that much.
That's not my assessment of this place, Greg. I see people treating other people with far more respect, civility, affection, support, love than in most other places that I have been on this planet. But then again we all live on our own subjective planet.

He is not a nice person at all.
In 1993 my mother said to me "Sean, you are just not a very nice person".
She was right.
Fortunately nothing is permanent in our existence, therefore there is hope!
Some people, some of the time, think I am 'nice' or neutral.
A few I am sure still see me as 'not nice'
But much fewer than in 1993. (I hope!)
In 1993 I was incapable of feeling the compassion I can feel at MacDonalds today!

I once heard a saying that:
Love without truth is useless
and
Truth without love is cruel
I see people working hard to find that fine line in this forum, which I think is good.

ok Daka, time to square with you. I actually went to that branch with Greg, as you know he is a veteran, and as you may not know we are also ex-lovers, and we had been on a 6 mile hike, he wanted to carry on for just another 200 miles but I was starving, I approached the counter and asked for something vegetarian and they suggested I ate Greg, so I punched that assistant because I had no choice, I was born with a hatred of the Golden Arch and all I wanted was for Greg to like me but he said I wasn't a very nice person and he would post it on some public forum to prove it.

I like that very much, daka, along with your observation. Thanks for sharing both.
