Blood is sweeter than honey

Back when i was an alter boy, there was one priest who particularly liked me. I had caught on quickly that it was all a matter of speed and so I would rattle off the latin words almost as fast as him and occasionally even faster. we would both look at the clock at the end of the service quite pleased with ourselves.
There was one part though where I had to go very slow. It was right after i had poured all the wine into the Chalice and it was now time to pour the water. I would move my hand like everything had almost stopped and we were in slow motion and when one single drop had left my container for his he would have time to lift his a little higher to signal that it was accomplished. Then we returned to the race.
The lesson there was that it was the Blood that was most Sacred.

This is a piece of pure prose. I believe it is. I see and watch the Mass taking place before me. I hear the words. I kneel and pray. I too always look at my watch at the end of Mass.

Hi Jack,

The variation in speed and the unity with the priest... like a conductor and musician,
each/both using contrast to convey emotion/importance.
