Yes, Phil-Perfect as always. Ken's picture reminds me of an article that I just read in Esquire (a U.S. publication) about Philip Roth and how he returned to his hometown in New Jersey and pointed to a sign raised high on the corner announcing "Philip Roth Plaza" which when you looked down the street it encompassed mostly garbage cans. I think you can be very proud of your London namesake.

...philip i hope for one moment you are not suggesting that some kinda trickery is afoot.....

.....or maybe it's just jealousy that is driving you to such thoughts over the naming of a little square in a small town in germany where the custom is that every friday after work all the residents strip naked and then go to the pub and get drunk.......ta ken (did you know there is a forsyth street in new york?)

If they had shirts like this in the little town in Germany they only get drunk with the shirt on.

:D :D
Ken..... you've made my day!

That road is in the 'no go area' of Matlock...but now I know the passport office is down that road I will go, as not going into a no go area is not an option anymore.
Thank you for your directions.

Tinders I don't check in the forum as often as I used to either but count me in on carrying on the Welsh thread with mindless mundane drivel and totally obscure information, that is my forte and what I miss most about the revamped forum and Ken's new venture on planning is actually quite intriguing and I am so bored today I am going to do a little surfing on relevant street names, I know you will all be here with bated breath waiting for any revelations I may find
Dublin 14th June, Manchester 20th June, O2 17th July, Matlock Bandstand Aug 28, O2 14th November, Royal Albert Hall 17th and 18th November 2008, MBW 11th July 2009, Liverpool Echo 14th July 2009

Having spent some time with you lovely people I have come to the conclusion that this is the only street appropriate to this thread :

philip….maybe considering the continual misuse of the word by the fruit cake element on the the forum this sign would be more appropriate.........

… according to the dictionary definition....

dread fear and inspiring of dread and fear…

…rather than to describe something which is slightly better than a poke in the eye….ta ken

Ken
I don't think you realise how timely and appropriate that is because the next reply will be the 1000th on this thread . I suspect that's just stopped the thread in it's tracks . Can anyone do it justice out there !
It really should be for Diane or Tim to say a few words on the subject . So to the both of you if you read this could you please post a reply so we can get on with our sad little lives .I must warn you I am not a patient man !

Dear Phil and everyone, as I am on a Fools and Horses theme, let's just say that this clip evokes all the setiments of our weekend that have kept this thread going for so long. The only difference was, they went to Margate.

Thanks Diane for your prompt and amusing post I was a bit worried that I had brought the thread to an abrupt halt . But as Del Boy would say "he who dares wins "

High Needham is in Derbyshire.
I'm led to believe that this is where my ancestors originated from.

I hope somebody eventually picked you up, Pete:-(

Watching that OFAH clip, I was thinking how I rather like the eeeasy feel of the Midnight Cowboy music, and the understatedness of the lyrics. LC apparently pretended to be Dustin Hoffman to star in that film.
Everybody's talking at me
I don't hear a word they're saying
Only the echoes of my mind

People stopping, staring
I can't see their faces
Only the shadows of their eyes

I'm going where the sun keeps shining
Through the pouring rain
Going where the weather suits my clothes
Banking off of the North East winds
Sailing on a summer breeze
And skipping over the ocean like a stone

Everybody's talking at me
Can't hear a word they're saying
Only the echoes of my mind

I won't let you leave my love behind
No I won't let you leave
I won't let you leave my love behind

Btw, whatever happened to kiss me quick (squeeze me slow) hats?? And my stick of rock??
