Sorry Hartmut, I’ve been pre-occupied with other things I’d rather not be unfortunately....
A wild guess says: Ain’t No Cure For Love
If perchance, it is the song you want, please continue without me for a while.

Hi Bev,

Sorry to hear that!

Yes, you're right. To be exact: The Jennifer Warnes version of that song (which has different lyrics).

How you guessed that with my meagre hints is kind of beyond me.

For the record:

A song that is not about fond feelings between monks.
"I don't want your brother love"

But still, one might say it mentions their clothes.
"I've got you like a habit"

If you have attended a LC concert in 2008, you have heard this song. And you haven't.
Because he didn't sing the Jennifer Warnes version.

It's a song where the change in personnel between tours became very apparent.
The saxophone intro got replaced by ... a violin intro? a guitar intro?

A guitar intro. (The same way they did it in the 80s or 90s)

Thank you Hartmut, for your kind words and clues info. The habit one and Dino's sax was what I based my guess on - I didn't even think of Jennifer's version or the guitar intro!

It seems like everyone is too busy to post at the moment so I'll try something a little different and see what happens :) I have drawn these lines myself.

All these lines physically and graphically illustrate one line from a song.
See if your mind can find the reality of it. This song was started on Hydra.

Same line from the same song which you could say was first released as a duet and seven years later as a solo. This song is on an official studio album.......in both cases but the latter is not LC’s :)

Nice job!

I'll think about your riddle when we're back from Amsterdam.

I hope I'm not crashing your party! I have a guess for Bev's clues:

"It’s not a trick, your senses all deceiving"

from "Alexandra Leaving".

Hi LisaLCFan,

Not crashing the party at all.

(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WEpLzsdEeY Not relevant, I know.)

ah, well done, Lisa :D That's the answer and really, I didn't come here to fool you ;-)

In case anyone is wondering those long vertical and horizontal lines in both images are exactly the same length but our senses are deceived at first look. It's an optical perception thing called the Muller-Lyer illusion - in depth explanation here: https://www.rit.edu/cla/gssp400/muller/muller.html

So nice to hear from you, Lisa! And Steven is right you are most welcome!
If you feel like doing it you could post the next question.

Hartmut, have a wonderful time in Amsterdam - my thoughts are with all of you there.

I knew of those optical illusions, and your other hints directed me right to the song/line you wanted, so it was a proverbial piece of cake! ;-)

I was afraid of that! Ha-ha! It is getting late here, so I'll think on it, and try to post something tomorrow, if that's okay!

Cheers, until then!

...On second thought, I'll post it tonight! One moment please...

All right, here we go:

This line (from an LC song sung by Leonard) is something that you could say upon discovering why a classical guitarist had to cancel his recital at the last minute.

Was that clue too obscure? How about another one: the song from which my line is from also contains, within a different line, the name of another Cohen song.
