Happy birthday, Yorkshire Phil
too late for me to buy
a birthday present just for you
oh my, oh my, oh my!
But what would I have bought for Yorkshire Phil?
If I had known before
what can you buy the man with all
who never wants for more?
But there is a pressie for Yorkshire Phil
that springs into my mind
a present you will treasure
and never need to find.
The birthday gift for Yorkshire Phil
is there before your eyes
I dedicate this thread to you
the one with the mountainside
Pete
p.s. Ken.... I'm impressed with your mathematics...I'll test you on it one day

Here's one to test Ken with : Work out the circumference of a withered toenail to find out how many can fit in a matchbox !

Birthday? It's your birthday!?!?!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PHIL!!!
Thank you for all the heartwarming laughter

.
May your and Jean's evening together have gone well.
A lovely way to celebrate, appreciating your many years
with one you love so much. May the two of you
celebrate many more of them together!
It seems the finest gift you could be given
sat across the table from you tonight.
Love,
your friend,
Lizzy

Glad to hear it went well and that now you have more money for drinks in Cracow!

Wow, I have much to catch up with after not looking in here for a while!
First of all, very happy belated birthday Phil, Anne & I will be joining you in celebrating the number 59 shortly. We'll all have a beer together in Krakow.
Ken, loved your pictures from Schinoussa and looking forward to seeing you and our other friends, first in Salzburg and then Krakow. I hope that the Woody Guthrie play somehow gets produced here in the states-it would be something that we would love. Thank you all for the kind words about my meager version of "Talking Dust Bowl Blues"-I hope to reprise it at some future occasion.
Anne & I are packing now and getting ready to leave on Sunday. After Salzburg, we've bought a Eurorail pass to explore Germany & Austria before we leave from Berlin to Krakow. Who knows maybe there will be a little climbing in Salzburg-I'll be looking for one of our number to be doing the Julie Andrews twirl while singing, "the hills are alive" as everyone threatened to do in Wales.
I wish you were all joining us in Salzburg and Krakow, but we're very excited to see many of you at one place or the other (or both).
Safe travels everyone and please tell that old volcano in Iceland to hold off for now. We had terrible storms here last night and I hope that it hasn't screwed up travel for the next few days.
See you soon.
Love,
Joe & Anne
P.S. Just have to add an edit that as I'm preparing to leave my office, there are two young ladies singing "Hallelujah" in the Lowell Center lobby. What a great omen with which to start our holiday!

Great omen! Did you also sign them up for 2012? Like hand them a note and a smile as you left

?
You're really making the MOST of this holiday time, Joe. So glad that your eyes are in order to allow for all this. Looking forward to seeing you and Anne in Cracow. That image of Julie really triggered a repeat desire to see Austria.

Sorry to shift from the joy of this thread, but I hope that everyone you know and love, Henning, as well as all members of this Forum and their loved ones, were not a part of that horrifying stampede that happened in the tunnel at the Festival of Love in Germany, which will never be held, again, understandably.

Like I have said to you before I count my blessing every day and even more so when you read of something like that happening.
I think everyone on the forum will want to echo your sentiment . Thank you for posting this !

And a belated one from me !!

Oh and btw I would just like to let everyone know the sacrifice Jean and myself are prepared to go to see you all again . Now that our flight time to Kracow has been changed the taxi will be picking us up at 0300 hrs YES 0300 HOURS to take us to the airport . Now that is what I call dogged determination in the call of cohenite duty and must surely warrant a drink off everyone . I would buy my own but Jean has sewn up the pockets of all my trousers because she doesn't like me standing with my hands in my pockets and unfortunately all my zlotys were in them at the time . Well I am a yorkshireman !!
