Hi Hartmut,
Nice Shakespeare snippets. As some lyrics in L.C. songs reflect the influence of The Bard of Avon,
perhaps someone might like to post a question related to this at some point. (It's getting increasingly
difficult for me to attend to this thread. Newbies are invited; the L.C. Song Hunt need not largely be a
spectator sport.)

Hartmut, I've been a bit busy lately and still am so if there's any remote chance one of the following is in your mind, you or someone else could post the next question.
Please forgive my sense of humour with this as I've just casually browsed over those lines you obviously had pleasure and purpose in posting
“and other forms of boredom advertised as poetry”
~ Field Commander Cohen
But seeing that Shakespeare, as well as being a poet (don't think he wrote a standard villanelle) was also a playwright and an actor -
“We rise to play a greater part”
~ Villanelle For Our Time
"Yeah, Shakespeare he said it all, and he said no more
And he left me feeling just like a two bit whore."
~ Storeroom (live concert)
btw – I remember Leonard saying somewhere in a interview that he could never really get into Shakespeare

It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to B4real ~ me

Re: L.C. Song Hunt
Hi Steven and Bev,
Thanks for your reactions.
Your guesses are very good, Bev. - I didn't know the "Storeroom" line. Interesting.
But the song I'm looking for doesn't make a reference to Shakespeare. These snippets of his however describe the song.
The first one should actually be enough. It describes the basic constellation of the song. And mentions an important part of its title.
"When shall we three meet again?
In thunder, lightning, or in rain?"
The other snippets are hints that contain several keywords of the song lyrics - including the rest of the title.

Re: L.C. Song Hunt
Ah Hartmut, I'm still around and I've actually now read all those Shakespearian lines which I should have done in the first place!
The instant thought that comes to mind is the song that is for whatever reason
very much a favourite of most men with LC's songs – Famous Blue Raincoat
btw – I also wouldn't have had those live concert lines (from Paris June 1976) in mind if I hadn't been compiling my marathon book!

Yes, you're right. - I didn't know about this gender-based preference ...B4real wrote:The instant thought that comes to mind is the song that is very much, for whatever reasona favourite of most men with LC's songs – Famous Blue Raincoat
I hope it's coming along well.B4real wrote:btw – I also wouldn't have had those live concert lines (from Paris June 1976) in mind if I hadn't been compiling my marathon book!
Re: L.C. Song Hunt
Thanks Hartmut, I don't have a question ready to post right now so if anyone wants to do that please go ahead.
If you ask your male friends who like LC for a favourite song I reckon you'll find FBR is among them - I know my male friends like it
.....and my book is taking shape word wise but I'm still designing artwork as a timeline through the pages and keep changing my mind

Hope you are thoroughly enjoying the book project. FBR is one of my favorites. Loved it since first
hearing it. Hadn't thought of any gender based preferences with that song. Had thought
about those preferences with regards to "I'm Your Man" and "The Gypsy's Wife." Those two
appear to be more resonant with male experience, seemingly making them more appealing
to males. The sensitive/vulnerable nature of "Because Of" probably makes the song more appealing to
females. Never thought about that one with regards to gender preference, only that the song character
(could be a fictional I there, even with "Leonard" in the lyrics) would probably be involved with more
platonic relationships, even at a younger age, because sensitive guys aren't the guys who generally score the most, and, unfortunately, such sensitivity is frequently taken as weakness. Do your female friends who like L.C. not very much enjoy FBR?
Re: L.C. Song Hunt
Steven, my female friends like that song too but my male friends enthuse about it and you've just proved it! And yes, I'm having fun with my book!
Hartmut, I forgot to say your post was very clever!
I thought I would post a problem anyway.
This one has a couple of connections to Hartmut's question.
They are to do with one of the main words and time.
There's also a proximity association.
