A good guess, Steven! But may I ask for another one (don't forget about "the song's background"; also, both songs have something common in the lyrics)?..

And the first one is related to Phoenix, that's right, Hartmut!

Hi Roman,

Is it "Samson In New Orleans" with New Orleans? This reply is equal parts conjecture and answer.
There is a bridge in "Samson In New Orleans," as in "The Golden Gate," so, if this is one of the "both"
songs in your hint, the bridge element satisfies the "something in common in the lyrics."

Additionally, words in the song reference the biblical Samson's final place. The city where the
temple he took down was located was his final destintation, as Samson was killed in the destruction.
The applicable words from "Samson In New Orleans": "So gather up the killers / Get everyone in
town / Stand me by those pillars / Let me take this temple down." The biblical Samson account
is located in the Book of Judges.

Both songs are: the one with Phoenix and the other one, still in question.

The second city had a good chance to be mentioned by the Cohenites in 2016 much more often than usually.

Amsterdam? There is a Cohen song about Ámsterdam?

Or is It “Born in Chains" and Jerusalem?

For the record: The Phoenix song is "I Can't Forget", I guess.

We're talking about a missed opportunity, so certainly not about Amsterdam!

Funny, I had thought about "Sisters of Mercy" being one of the songs in question earlier, but had dismissed the idea.

Your newest hint, however, steers us in the direction of Edmonton. And that brings that song back into play.

Steer your way to Edmonton, Hartmut!
