I hope someone videos the final concert and agrees to show it in Mullaghmore Sligo at so meet-up. Meanwhile enjoy the final concerts and tell Leonard we would love to have been there.

Ya' know,

I've walked through a desolate Royal Hospital, Kilmainhan over the last couple of years and I've wondered if this is the source of all that followed. The first stop on the European and world tours and the spontaneous overflow of those powerful feelings.

All the best,
Merton

What I would like to have explained to me is why the two concerts I found most enjoyable were open-air concerts in the rain (Kilmainham and Sligo first night). Has anyone else felt the same?

dce suggested on the Las Vegas thread that people might organise post-tour celebrations. How about Easter with IrishAl and IrishMar - and whoever else has footage-putting on a show?

Unfortunately I wasn't at Kilmainham but although Saturday came very very close I can't imagine any concert ever topping Lissadell July 31st for me. I'm also on for a Sligo reunion at Easter. However I would be wary of using that weekend as it is a time that people spend with families. Basically May and June are out for me as have 6 concerts on over those 2 months (I need something to try and help fill the void left by the end of Leonards tour) But any other time of the year is good for me! Bring it on!

I rarely visit this thread now, but just found it again.
JD, I agree with you. Don't know what it is about outdoor venues, but they're the best. I first saw Leonard live in the National Stadium............awful place! Thankfully our indoor stadia have improved but outdoors is still best. For me, Kilmainham was the best concert I've ever attended. It was indescribable, and while I really enjoyed Lissadel both nights they didn't come close to Kilmainham. Rain? What rain?? I'm sure you'll agree we didn't even notice it!

Decision on Lissadell case next month

The long-awaited High Court decision on the Lissadell House and Estate dispute with Sligo County Council is due to be published on Tuesday 14th December.
I wonder how this went. I've checked Google but can't find anything. Is there something I missed? Really hope sensibility prevails.

musicmania. Thanks Mick. I'll say a prayer for the Cassidy's.
Keep us informed Mick I hope the judgement is a nice Christmas present for the Walshes and the Cassidys in Lissadell.
btw musicmania you done us proud with your Irish flag and reference to Sligo, no harm to keep Sligo to the fore of Leonard's mind. If not Lissadell again how about Powerscourt for 2012 concert ? ( I heard a whisper !).
Powerscourt Estate26 Dec 2009 ... Powerscourt Estate, Gardens and Golf Club, Enniskerry, BRAY, Co. Wicklow, IRELAND. Open 7 days a week 9:30am to 5pm.

Thanks Jeney,
Should Leonard return to our island I wouldn't care where the concert would be. I'd just be so grateful to have him return. If there is so much as a whisper of Leonard going back on tour I will be reminding Robert Kory of his promise to me. Leonard in fairness didn't make any promises ;-)

I guess the whisper is based on a news report that Powerscourt may be opening the grounds for concerts.
Certainly if John Reynolds ( Leonard's man in Ireland ) is involved it may well be the venue during the 2012 LC tour ;-) .

irish Times: 20th December 2010.
High Court to give its decision on Lissadell House today
The High Court will give its decision today in the legal row over rights of way between the owners of Lissadell House in Sligo and Sligo County Council.
The judgement is expected to be handed down at around 1 pm this afternoon.
Last June, the Court reserved judgment in the case, taken by owners, Edward Walsh and Constance Cassidy, against the County Council.
The 58-day court case heard from a total of 52 witnesses and involved 8,000 pages of transcripts, and the final legal costs could be as high as four million euro.
The case was taken by the owners of the historic Estate after members of the Council passed a resolution in December 2008 to amend the Sligo County Development plan to include a provision for the “preservation of the public rights of way” along certain routes at Lissadell.
As a result of the move, the owners closed the Estate to the public in January, 2009. The Estate was reopened in July 2010 for two concerts performed by Leonard Cohen, it closed again in October.
The future of the Estate as a popular tourism destination hinges on today's judgement.
PS. I just had a text from Keith McNair to say the Walshe family, owners of Lissadell, have lost the case , I will post the judgement in full tomorrow :( :( :( .

Thanks for the update Mick. I'll be checking back on this thread a little later. Wishing Edward Walsh and Constance Cassidy (and of course, Lissadell) all the best....
