Shwmae does indeed translate from Welsh (Cymraeg) into English (Saesneg) as hello or welcome.

It's just a welcome from this green and pleasant land to a stranger who I shall probably never meet.

I share your hope, but we'll have to wait for Jarkko's decision. (If you ask me, Jarkko, I'd say: Iubita is a "Beautiful Loser" more than qualified for the Gallery...)

Dear Diana/Iubita!

Thanks for the photo! I will keep it here for a while, because it would be a
bit early for The Gallery: you have joined the Forum less than one month ago.

During my years as the webmaster I have had to formulate some
kind of policy for The Gallery. Otherwise there would be lots of
photos of persons who have disappeared soon after sending their
photos just on the spur of the moment.

I'm posting photos of people who are not "just" fans but ALSO have in
some way shown long time activity in our little Cohen "community":

- they have been sending contributions for the LC Files,
- have taken actively part in the threads on the Forum, official board
or the LC Newsgroup, or been a regular visitor to the chatroom for some time.
- are hosting Cohen websites, have written books or articles on Cohen, are Event organizers
- OR have some other demonstration of their action.

With "long time activity" I in principle mean some six months on
The Forum, but this has to be flexible - we must also pay attention to the number (and contents) of postings.

Summa summarum: let's wait a couple of months, and then it's time to get in!
Meanwhile, let's keep the photo here:

I haven't been to Wales, but travelled to England and had a short stop in Ireland back in the 70's - yes I think Wales would be very green and very pleasant!

Hi Ibutita - not sure I have the spelling correct (Diane) - yes, great poem, so much like love isn't it? Are you willing to "give" the game to win? Great analogy!

Also to Cohen Knight - you are a fantastic 17 yr old! My kids at home (16&17) roll their eyes when I play Cohen, but my older daughter (23) knows...she probably heard the Cohen influence more when she was young than my new teens.

sometimes we are very far as a distance and time, but the most important is that we are close as a sensibility...that' is why we are here together...writing, talking and enjoying the same things....
thanks a lot you are liking my photo...I am not taking pictures very often...and usually I don't like them too much...but this is just one of them that I do...anyway...we should be beautiful mostly inside...so, I think, when I feel mature and put my EGO to stay quiet...

I wanted to tell you more and more about this very nice surprise today when I've seen my picture there...but I didn't want to bother you with this too much...

Ahhh, feel free to express your feelings to such a surprize.....I know you had to be shocked and thrilled, both. Whatever your dream coming true is, I hope it fits in with it. I won't be bothered at all to hear more, and I'm sure there are others who can relate to how they would feel and would enjoy reading it, too. Yes, very nice photo ~ your depth shows in it. I'm so glad you like it here. I feel it's a wonderful place with many, equally wonderful people. You'll get to know many of them better and see. With our time zones, I think we're in the same one, despite the distance.

Never argue with the Administrator... (I know what I'm talking about, being the Admin for an application and a database myself) ... especially don't start an argument, when he has found such a beautiful compromise.

Elizabeth was right. You look exactly the way your words had made me imagine you'd look. And sooner or later [sooner, I'd say, judging from the "number (and content) of postings"] the picture will find it's rightful place in the Gallery of Beautiful Losers/Winners...

Being in Toronto, Diane, did you have the chance to listen to and look at Nancy's Leonard Cohen event on May 17th? (If so, you could tell us all about it! The thread is still waiting for someone to report...)
