Someone mentioned, freedom of speech in this country (usa
That's a good laugh!
And I thank you, I thank you
for doing your duty
You keepers of peace, you guardians of duty.
Your vision is right, my vision is wrong
I'm sorry for smudging the air with my song...

Jinx,

Isn't the US generally considered to be the cradle of democracy?

Great idea about getting the Stars of the music world to give a concert to raise money for Leonard's retirement fund...but wouldn't it be better if they just raised Awareness about Leonard's situation? You know...like they did for Africa.

Better yet, the millions of fans could all send a dollar each to Leonard in a plain white envelope via his new management. (He can trust them can't he?)

Yes, and as we all know, Democracy is firmly planted in every country except the United States of America.

What a sad and trying turn of events. I'm so sorry that LC is having to deal with this. He will be in my thoughts, and I'll keep an eye on the forums to see if there is anything done that I can help with.

Thanks for passing on the kind regards, Jarkko.

Briefly, there is something all fans and supporters of his work can do/not do. Do not copy his recordings. Do not allow anyone to copy recordings you have paid for. Acquire Leonard's recordings only by paying for them at legitimate commercial outlets. This way his business will survive by refusing to participate in piracy of products. He does not need charity or special considerations. All he needs is ethical customers for his professional products. That is the best that we can do.

Cheers all; and all support for Leonard in his professional undertakings. Sympathy and well wishes during his current trials is only human.

Witty.

I never copy recordings of anyone's work, personally. It's my opinion - for what it's worth - that the artist deserves the income from his music/books/poetry/whatever. S/he wrote it, went to the considerable effort and some expense to get the work published.

People who download recordings, etc, illegally, are stealing money from the artist. That is THEFT. That makes the one doing the illegal recording a THIEF.

Sorry for the capitals, but this is a pet beef of mine.

People who copy for free should consider how they would feel if it was their own work being stolen in this way.

Leonard still gets paid in royalties though for all his old albums, right?

He better get that $5 million back and more!

He won't get it back any time soon if people keep stealing his recordings instead of buying them.

You only get royalties from albums that are FRESHLY, legally purchased. You get not a single busted cent for stolen copying.

If you want an album, go BUY it, don't cheat the performer out of his hard-earned cash.

I'm sorry. I get REALLY steamed up about this. :!: Really, REALLY steamed up.

Of course. It has never occurred to me to do otherwise.

Fljots- sounds so enthusiastic and righteous, but tell me dear-do you really think that it is a fare price to pay $16.99 for a CD? How much the performer gets? how much the seller? How much the company gets? Do you know?
I've never gotten any of my CD's other then buying at the store, but now, after your steaming steams, I am starting to reconsider my position on this subject- because I do hate that statement hard-earned cash in this particular case. Hard- earned cash Usually stands for people who work on the fields for your daily bread and milk, for the veggies on your table, for the roof over your head so it does not leak, for the roads you can drive safely, for the people who would attend to you day or night, if you are in trouble, so please, let your steam off a bit, it could blow you into nonsense.
