Ha! Those emoticons! Right now, I'm trying a behaviour change. I'm beginning with the elimination of emoticons. Now, I find, you've drawn me deeper into my hideous habit.

There are a few in there that will likely get much use on this forum! Some, only in pms. But, it's sure nice to have such a realistic choice! We are creatures of many emotions, rather, emoticons.

Linda.

Tom,

Great photos! The woman in the hat, she's the Suzanne of song, isn't she? And the pic of the man John Hammond, is written in another language Johna Hammonda (or something close) - I've seen the John Hammond that we all know - the blues musician. It doesn't look like him. But, if one removed the glasses and the haircut, who knows? The time seems wrong also. There was a time when I thought John Hammond was a (close your ears, here comes a racial slur) black blues musician. When I saw him in concert, he wasn't. Still, a great blues musician. Blues is evolving and hey! it hurts to be human.

All together, in every sense, a wonderful collection of photos! Especially, our young and beautiful Leonard. I don't think you have the proper emoticon...

Tom?

Please stop banging your head against that wall. You're going to need some Auparins. Besides, it's giving me a headache, but I can't stop watching.

Although the pic dissapeared again: Linda, that's not John Hammond the blues man, but late John Hammond of Columbia-Sony fame. The greatest talent scaut in pop history. He brought Billie Holiday, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Bruce Springsteen to Columbia's label. He also started to produce Leonard's first album, but he withdrew because of illnes. Listened to Leonard playing guitar in his Chelsea Hotel room and then get him the contract. This photo was obviously taken in between their contract signing and album producing, while Hammond still was acting as Leonard's producer.

Such a glorious photo of one of Hydra's pathways :D . I LOVE the photo of Leonard as a boy wearing a tie 8) . I can still see the Leonard of today in his face and smile 8) . I'm not see John Hammond, at all, however. Is he the one on the right, where we see Leonard talking with a woman? Who is the young woman, whom Leonard is sitting beside, in the block that speaks of the six poets?

These pics are scanned from Ira Nadel's book. I think it's Leonard's first fiance, Anne, of "For Anne" poem fame. If I correct well, but I think it's her.

Oh, it is her - the picture is titled "Anne Sherman 1957" - I see in Properties.

This is only half of the pic - you can clearly see that it was cut left of Anne. As much I remember, on the left of her, there are Irving Layton and Ava Layton, and it was taken on their vacation on some of the Canadian lakes.

Thanks, Tom. Is that woman Judy Collins? Her hair looks like it could be, but that 'jumper' effect on her dress is questionable. The look of interest in both the men's faces weighs in on the side of its being her. But, then, I guess it would be mentioned along with the photo, if it was, eh?

I think the woman is Judy Collins. In the songbook I have, "Songs of Leonard Cohen", there is a picture of him hugging her on the same page as the other picture, it looks like the same place (probably a tent used for an outdoor performance). He has his guitar slung over his back, you can see the strap on his shoulder in the John Hammond pic. The jumper effect you refer to might be Judy's guitar strap.

Ah, you're right, I bet, on the guitar strap. Of course, on my computer, the photo has disappeared again  .

Photos dissapeared again, yes. The problem with that Polish server, I presume.
I also think that is Judy Collins, probably on Newport Folk Festival, all three photos from same ocassion.
