Hi Painkillersinaction,
I think the news has been around long enough for us to get used to the idea that he won't be going on the road tomorrow. Like Jarkko says - it's a long-term plan. First Anjani's project, Leonard's book, then his CD and tour. The day it was announced, there was near pandemonium, as you can probably see
But yep. It's good news indeed. If it's a world tour, I bet he plays Greece, you know why.

heh! i guess the "long term plan"sentence is better than nothing!

An hour ago LC was filed under the "favourite artist, i'll never get to see live" category. *what a differeeeence an hour maaaadeee!"
He has got to travel east

Looking forward to hearing if he travels east. I think it was a couple of summers ago a woman was on the radio, she was organizing a literary festival in Moncton New Brunswick. To encourage people to come out to the festival she hinted that Leonard Cohen might show up.
She was an evil woman.

I think I might've misread your post the first time. She wasn't a radio person? Just organizing an event? Well, that is indeed evil. Very unprofessional as well. Hopefully she got hers when LC didn't show!

I can't beleive I stayed away from this site for this long. I wish I had heard it sooner but I am so happy, excited... that I will be able to see him live. I think I will print off the announcment and frame it on my wall. I want to call all my freinds but none of them would care. I may have to go visit my old english teacher who introduced me to cohens music. he's the only one I know who has good enough taste in music to like Leonard Cohen. maybe I will email the editor of our school newspaper who probobly thought I was crazy for the reveiw I did on Dear Heather. she wouldn't care either but some one has to spread the word right?

Just got back from holidays and got the news. What a pleasant surprise. Just let my friend know who last saw Leonard in Dublin c.1985.

TOUR?

Since LC has been made only barely audible on recordings for over a decade , how in the world can he be made so on stage? His voice has been ravaged for so long now that this is either an act of masochism, sadism, both, or career suicide.
And, believe me, I speak as a career-spanning fan of all of his work.

Hi bc ~
Simply to be in his presence Live is enough for many. The music will be there. So will his voice. So will the microphones. His career will survive; in fact, thrive. The "career suicide" concern will go the way of the "music to slit your wrists by" comment.

Leonard to tour again.

Hi to all
I have been thinking alot about the reality that Leonard may tour again and perform live. This is perhaps another school of thought.
On the one hand , I am ecstatic that I may get the chance to hear my idol in person and live a dream.
On the other hand there is the possibility of huge disappointment that somehow it just wont live up to all the expectations. Over the coming months/years we have to live with this reality and not expect miracles.
We have all his music and live performances (almost all) as a younger man- vibrant and energetic. He might be best remembered as he was.................................................

Hi all,
I think anyone who has heard Leonard speak poetry or read 'audio books' knows that it isn't exactly the 'singing' voice that is the most powerul. He has a very powerful 'speaking' voice as well as a very unbeatable presence

and a killer source of wit as well.
I think Leonard, in his years and wisdom, knows what will work for him. What works for Leonard, works for me.
Linda.
I'm even getting to like TNS.

Boy, are you easily swayed, celtic36

~
Seriously, have you seen/heard Leonard in recent interviews? The only expectation I have of Leonard is that Leonard be Leonard. He hasn't let me down yet

. I can truly only speak for myself, but
I won't be disappointed. Not a chance. Not even a breath of a chance.

Hi Celtic36,
I agree that some shouldn't expect what might be the 'old' Leonard, as seen in interviews and on video. In 'quiet expectation' is how I'm waiting. Nonetheless, I don't think I could walk away from a LC concert/performance with an 'empty' feeling. I'm pretty sure his show will be tailored to enhance the finest of Leonard's poetic/artistic/musical performance. I wouldn't be disappointed with a simple poetry reading. But, I'm sure the shows won't be like the 'old' shows, but they'll be LC shows. For me, that's the bottom line.
Regards,
Linda.

The idea of seeing Him is makes it hard to relax unbearable makes me cling, grasp, crave, desire... bad Buddhist.
I was talking with a friend this evening. She remembers seeing him in Montreal (not sure if it was hte 60's or 70's, two long green candles at each side of him. She said she could swear he was looking at her, I told her he was...
