I have just noticed that most of my message is shown here and the typewriter font I originally used has been changed to the generic one. I'm assuming that was a casuality of the difficulty of production. Also MY DRAWING of Leonard that I gave him for his birthday this year appears on the back cover of the card. I am very flattered but I had no idea that it was being used. What a surprise! Thanks for acknowledging my small part in this venture!

Hi Bev,

Forgive me for not getting your permission to use your exquisite drawing of Leonard on the back cover of his card. I did try to PM you, but for whatever reason the system never found you for me. I do thank you, though, for being so understanding about our use of it. A note about your message: your complete message is included in the body of Leonard's card, exactly the way you posted it. I recopied part of it (as you said) in a font I own, because by the time I was assembling Leonard's card I had no access to the fonts provided by GroupCard, Inc. I did want you acknowledged, though, and that is why I handled it the way I did. I sincerely hope that is OK with you.

I had no idea what the cards would look like and am just in awe of your talents Grace and Marie.
The vision that you had really manifested into something really really beautiful.
The drawings, the paper, I love the photo of Leonard, the quotes, the binding, the box...
what can I say...
I am proud to be part of this gift and it truly is special.
Our thank you's are the gift....I totally 100% agree...
Thank you!
Leslie/Mutti ;-)
Thank you, Leslie, for your kind words about our efforts. I know you played an integral part in the successful completion of the card project, as well, and for that, I am truly grateful. This was an absolute labor of love on the part of Marie, you ... me ... on behalf of everyone who signed the cards (more than 700 signatures on Leonard's and more than 100 on each of the band cards) ... everyone who contributed to this project should be proud of its outcome. Without each of you, Marie, Leslie and I would still be sitting here with nothing to do ...

Thank you Grace for your kind words. It was a pleasure for me and I did so little compared to you and Marie.
You both created something so beautiful and a treasure which brings up so much emotions that I am sure each recipient from Leonard to each band member will be touched. I can't think of an object that would be more welcomed than something written from the heart as these cards are.
I was looking for you so I could meet you in person but somehow it never happened.
Take good care and thank you again.
Leslie/Mutti ;-)

I'd like to add my thanks to Marie's; thank you all for the kind words. Sometimes ideas materialize, and the whole becomes greater (and better) than the sum of its parts. That appears to be the case with these cards. Marie is absolutely correct on the technical aspects of colors and fonts. On several pages the printing actually became the lesser of two evils ... what do I do ... lighten here, darken there ... and finally I made the decision that the words and the photographs were the most important things on each page. If that meant cut lines would show here and there, then that's what it meant. Messages printed in yellow and gold had to show up. Lighter photographs had to be clear, because that was the point.

Again, my deepest thanks to each of you who took the time to send your messages to Leonard and the band. Like I said in another post, what we had to present to Leonard and each of the band members would not have been possible, had it not been for each of you.

Thank you.
Grace

I am late in taking a look at the cards. They are beautiful! Thank you so much, Marie and Grace and all involved, for the many many hours of work that went into them. It is much appreciated.

This was a whirlwind trip for Jim and me. Had I known when we booked our reservations and bought our tickets that this project would surface, I would have come in a day earlier. Just by reading so many posts in all the cards I feel like I already "know" so many people I would loved to have met. Maybe ... hopefully ... there will be another opportunity.

Thanks again,
Grace

That's OK Grace,

As I said, I was flattered and surprised at the same time, but knew your intentions were directed towards the best outcome for all. Thanks for clearing up what happened. Thanks for acknowledging my drawing on Leonard's card. I am truely pleased to be involved in a much greater way than I would have thought possible with this venture. I would have loved to be at Las Vegas to see the printed cards and all that went on. Maybe we'll get a message from Leonard through Jarkko about his reaction to all our good wishes. That would be just wonderful. :D

My understanding was that our purchasing the cards was not really an option, though something may have been said to have given that impression. Someone will be along fairly soon to clarify on that, I'm sure.

They are stunning! Thanks to Marie for the great idea, groundwork, and preparation for the finale; and to Grace for her amazing creativity, commitment, and implementation of her ideas. What an exquisite outcome :D !

You were a wonderful team 8) .

Dear MarieM

I have not read what has been written on these pages, so forgive me if it is repetitious.

The opportunity to stand at the stage and to sing to Leonard was beyond all my dreams...but I did not know that until that very moment !

I have sung with him, danced to him, played music to him....but to sing to him, knowing he was within hearing distance, knowing he understood our
feelings; was, what changed this entire event for me......I was sad, but very , very, happy....We all crave to meet, to touch, to speak...I did not know, that what I wanted, was to sing to him.

Thank you for that gestue of love....It is what I will remember most.......................jeanne

Hi Everyone,
Like so many others, I was stund by the show, I wish I could have spent more times with you all (I actually only spoke to 3 or 4 people from the forum and I will send them private messages) but to everyone attending the concert, I wanted to say merci, merci, merci
I couldn't get to sign the book for LC, so I take the liberty of adding my little note to him on this thread
Looking forward to being about to share my passion for him with you again... and again... and again...

To LC:
Story of a pathetic fan

Mr Cohen, should you ever get to go through our community site, I have to tell you what you do to me, and maybe what you do to some of us...

I'm now back from Vegas, jet lagged but happy, I counted, I spent 18 hours in Vegas, just to see you Mr Cohen, and your wonderful band, coming from France. I'm in my early 40s and one would I thought I would have had time to enjoy your music before about 5 years ago when my - other - idol made me buy my first record because he kept on talking about you. I really really like your music, but that was before I actually attended my first Cohen concert, that was in Paris Bercy, July 7th 2008...
what a slap in my face it was...
I've attended quite a lot of concert in my life, but Sir, you are better than any of those kids who don't have your crazy dreams, who think it's all about shouting and running on stage, no Sir, it's about passion, love, humility, give if you want to receive, spirituality, charm, and 'aura'.
I was so overwhelmed by the concert, that I then went to see you in Nimes, I thought the arenas would be a great venue, the concert was very good but the audience lacked enthousiasm, or at least, wasn't as enthousiastic as I was... so I decided to go to Barcelona to attend your concert on your 75th... again a shock, whatever you're on, please tell me, I want to have the same energy that you have...
And when your 2010 tour was announced, that was like being a 5yr old kid at Christmas, but after 5 concerts in France in September, I just didn't have enough... so there I was, travelling from Paris to Vegas for another over-3 hours of happiness, only regretting not to be able to attend Friday's show as well.
You made me cry Sir, in Caen, on Take this waltz, you made me smile Sir, on so many occasions, you made me laugh Sir, you made me think Sir, you made me love Sir, you made me focus on the moments I had with you in front of my eyes Sir, you made me forget the rest Sir, and my only concern for myself is how can I go on thinking I'll never get to attend one of your concerts again: how can you accept to be unable to touch something that made you so so happy?
For you, I only wish you, after giving us so much, to be a bit selfish, you seem to have found peace and I can only hope nothing will ever disturb it
merci pour etre vous et de nous avoir fait partager cet etre merveilleux que vous etes.

Yes, LC&LC, they certainly are, and you may feel better knowing that all your words wouldn't have fit on the card, anyway. There was a character limit, so here you got to fully and heartfelt express yourself in all the ways you wanted... and it is beautiful.
