Hey - have some of you also noticed that in the "Democracy" video, at 5:40 ff., it REALLY sounds like young Leonard singing? 8) SO exciting, especially because I never noticed it with "Democracy" in Amsterdam or in Oberhausen (my two Leonard concerts - so far?! ;-) ...)

I'm concerned abt some of the dumb camerawork/editing [which was also noticeable at the live shows]...

above all, the number of shots from Leonard's LHS when his hand is covering his mouth.

the camera [or video-editor/whoever] shud have had one of the cameras
on the other side set up ready to cut to for a clear view.

the bit ive watched of the 2 vids so far suggests that when they do move to his RHS, there is some interference from mike stands in front of that view.

at manchester, we cud see that there were THREE cameras on each side, just left and right of centre, so lining up an unhindered shot cudnt be easier.

fussy ? well this is of concern to deaf fans, obviously, maybe others too ?

let's just pray that there are subtitles/captions available to help with this !

[Jarkko, is there any good or bad news on that subject yet ? ]

to end on a more positive note, its a relief to see they havent used horrible 'hip' fast cutting or stupid crane shots :D

i do hope there will be a few shots to give a sense of the size of the place that he reduced to a living room :-)

***Unfortunately they had not time enough to add the subtitles, so this release is coming without texts. / Jarkko***

a living room?!!!!! :)
I think a temple is what he transformed the arena into on that night.
(I'd perhaps agree with living room for 13th Nov.) ;-)

I agree with Paddieu; I myself happen to be film critic and scholar and IMHO anything called "directing" cannot unfortunately be attached to this DVD preview we got. Also, word "author" is also too big to be used here...

On the other side, Croatian distributor of SONY-BMG confirms that DVD will be available in Croatia (and obviously in rest of Europe) on March 31.

I just got a message from Amazon that the CD/DVD is postponed
Estimated arrival date: 02/04/09 - 09/04/09
So we have to wait a little longer.

Better a little late - than a little bad

HMV are still giving a release date of Monday 30 March.

Jarkko - have you heard anything about a delay?

Thanks

Wendy

That's just delay from Amazon, as they need some time to get CDs/DVDs from the distributor (probably because of high number of orders), or something like that.

Croatian SonyBMG company has announced the album for March 31 on their official website: http://www.menart.hr/index.php?album_id=4199

Also, if somebody didn't link it here before, SonyBMG has uploaded LIVE IN LONDON EPK (press kit) to LeonardCohen.com's Video section : http://www.leonardcohen.com/video.html

Direct link should be http://link.brightcove.com/services/lin ... 4980050001

Just ordered my copies from Play.com :D :D :D - I wouldn't hold out much hope of finding it in what passes for record shops in rural Donegal, but Play are cheaper than shops, and (usually) pretty quick in sending stuff out - I've ordered both (obviously) for less than 30 euros... free delivery (no, this isn't an advert, but where I'm living getting good music isn't too easy... :? )

I too have ordered both, 31 march proposed release date in new zealand too, so looks like the world is synchonised.
(ha - except our today comes before the rest of the world na na na na naa)

Next problem will get getting the family out of the way so i can watch/listen. I have yet to convert my family - looking slimmer all the time. I do get fed up with the attitude re lc being depressing. Read in a book lately - lady was talking about being depressed, and she says "i have only to read the words leonard and cohen in the same sentence and i get depressed". Best selling book, great read, but WHAT THE? does she really have to be so mean? (ignorant, insensitive etc lol)
Have finished my first etching of my reaction to lc, will post it...somewhere on the site soon.
