A friend recently introduced me to Alela Diane and her album To Be Still:
She's influenced by Appalachian folk music and has a simply stunning voice - here's the video for 'White as Diamonds' from YouTube:

Been watching Bones again!! They do have some good music on there, trouble is it can be quite difficult to find out who the heck it is because they don't credit the music.
Anyway, I finally found her name on an obscure site on Google. This is the song on YouTube, Miranda Lee Richards - 'Life Boat' - there are 2 versions, the first I believe is the studio version -

and then this one which is live

They are both beautiful. Some of her other stuff is also very good.

By the way, Evie - I found that Neil Diamond version of "If You Go Away" you mentioned some time ago. Interesting; different, to say the least... But the same album had a version of "Suzanne" by Neil, and - well - not sure, but - hmm - I am not too fond of it...

What do you think?

Hi Womanfromaroom, I used to own that album, somehow I lost it, but it did have both those tracks I remember. "Suzanne" I agree with you Neil's voice not really suited to that song, most particularly when you have heard the original. "If you go away" was better, but still not very special. Love Neil Diamond though, favourites are "Play Me", "Stones" and "Forever in Blue Jeans". Have replaced the album now with a double cd but Suzanne is absent. He was on at Glastonbury last year an hour or so before Leonard , Goldfrapp separated them - here on YouTube singing "Happiness", I couldn't stop singing Happiness bababa bababa love real love for weeks.

- bet Leonard thought he was back in the 60s listening from backstage!

Hehe, Evie - nice, but have you got any clue what those costumed figures ("dancers", if you like) are supposed to be?

No, I don't know what the flappy dance creatures were meant to be, but they become more and more endearing with each glass of wine I drink. Alison Goldrapp looks like she was wearing some of those plastic strip hanging screen things that used to be for keeping flies out when you had a door open, can't remember what they were called. She always likes to look different, I thinks she successfully achieves that at Glastonbury. The other memorable outfit a few years ago at Glastonbury was the fella in Scissor Sisters' knitted outfit that started to unravel! Knowing him it was probably on purpose.
