Commiserations, Willy, Wijbe, Tinedoes and all other Dutch forum people. It's too bad to come that far and lose:-( The bbc commentator called you beautiful losers in the pre-match talk, for your past near misses. You are beautiful losers again tonight.
Spain were the better team and well-deserved to win though. Congrats!!!! My bro lives in Spain and is pretty happy.
Good to see Mr Mandela there. Well-hosted, South Africa.
Welcome to this never-ending thread, Frisco:-)

Congrats Spain. That Paul the octopus is incredible!
Sorry W and W but there can only be one winner. Have to say though, i thought the pressure got to both teams and it was a sloppy game and I never saw so many yellow cards been given out before. The 3rd and 4th play off was so much better and lots more goals... i guess it must be something to do with the pressure alright. Well done Germany by the way. 3rd place from 32 teams for such a young team was amazing.
Now what do we amuse ourselves with for the next 3 weeks till Kracow? Hmmmmm ?
60 pages on this thread now.. wow!
Wonder will the Kracow thread beat it when it starts up

I was rooting for Holland because of Willy and Wijbe. Sorry you didn't win.
I know nothing about football and have no idea if the English ref got it right with all the yellow cards etc but it did look like quite a dirty game.
As the ocuptus is now no use as a football pundit he will be on the menu which seems a bit of a shame that we can't do the same to Gary Lineker.
Not long to Poland now

Hi Paula, and everyone else
hope you had a good weekend. Looked out for you and Megan middayish on Saturday but no luck.
Like you, because of Willy & Wijbe had a slight leaning towards Holland, but Torres and Alonso pulled my heartstrings in another direction.
I had a £5 bet in every match (64 total).
Did the same bet each time... £5 draw and overall lost 50p, and had an interest to the end of every game.
Don't know what it proves but it was an interesting exercise.
Look forward to seeing those who are visiting Krakow and thanks for so many birthday greetings. I'm still not acting my age, but maybe I will one day!

Hi Dave - I kept an eye out for you too Megan's abseil was at 3. She really enjoyed it hope your niece did too.
We watched Craig from Big Brother being cut out of a car

as the charities were for the fire service and Claire House and we saw the 40,000 plastic ducks being set off, I have no idea who won, really good day all in all plus it was Beatles day.

Paula,
sorry I missed seeing you and Megan on Saturday. I waited ages for a bus to Liverpool that never came

Any longer and I thought I would have been too late anyway, so I walked home again.
See you soon in Krakow.

Willy and Wijbe, I was cheering for Netherlands because of you. So sorry they didn't come in first, but to have come so far in this competition is an achievement in itself. So in addition to saying congratulations to all our Spanish forum members, I have to say congratulations to the Netherlands team also.
Warmest regards,
Mary
(P.S. A very happy belated birthday to you Dave!!!
Tinds, the World Cup is bringing more members here - 'is this what you wanted?')

HI Mary
The more the merrier, cos it will keep this thread running and running.
Thanks for the gorgeous words after your birthday greeting. You are a sweetheart Mary. I won't make it to Sligo but if you run into Leonard, (and knowing you, I bet you do)... give him my love. I am sure I will have the best time in Kracow.
