The Dave Fanning radio interview was posted on the Forum in 2009 by Maarten,
if you do a Forum search, it should pop up .
Recently I asked Dave when did he conduct the interview with Leonard, he told me that he was not sure,
he recalled that he did interview Leonard on two occasions,
one interview took place in London, he thinks that was in 1988,
the other interview was recorded in Dublin, he is unsure of the year ( Dick Straub, take note ).
I believe the "interview" which was broadcast last July on RTE Radio 1 was a compilation of material extracted from both interviews .
"Bock" in the "Leonard Cohen in Dublin - Concert review" records the following exchange between Dave and Leonard.
"A few years back, Dave Fanning asked him what would happen when he took Berlin, and Leonard, in his usual laconic way, took a puff of his cigarette before answering, " I’m not at liberty to disclose the full details, but I can tell you it will involve a lot of new parking meters" .
Having listened to the Fanning / Cohen interview supplied by Maarten during which Leonard states "I am 58 now" based on that I was able to date it as taking place in 1992. Was the 1988 ? interview ever broadcast ? Thanks Maarten for that, I hope you sleep well .

Due to "insurmountable logistical issues" some of our group will be unable to attend the Las Vegas Concert on Dec. 10th
as a result we will have 2 Tickets available to sell to "genuine" fans ( Members of this Forum
).
The seats are in FORCH 5 - Row DD (4th row from the stage).
Awaiting interest from viewers of this thread before we place on the Sell or Trade
.

Sorry to hear that Mick! I hope you are still coming? My heart says buy one of these but my head tells me my ticket for the Friday show isn't too bad and I need to look after my finances! I'm sure you will have no issue in selling them though!

Oh dear! I hope that doesn't mean you Mick! Are you having a problem with your promoter?

If ? when Leonard returns to Lissadell, let's hope that the traffic problems will not be repeated and that my hotel reservation company doesn't go bust again! Let's hope it will be Sligo again, but anywhere will do!

Should we start a campaign to get LC to return to Lissadell, even if it is for a holiday or a poetry reading?

A poetry reading is a thought that has crossed my mind before and would be amazing.

jdhayes,
check out the post below,
a campaign might not be necessary
but a reminder every now and again to Leonard of the standing invite will not go astray
.
Wed. Sept. 22nd.
Everyone I spoke to at the Pier Head Hotel and at Lissadell firmly believe that Leonard gave every indication that he will at some stage return to Lissadell (sans Band perhaps ),
he has an open invitation to do so.
I too believe he will one day stand at his Tree and Plaque in the "Cohen Corner" at Lissadell .

Wouldn't a meet up with our hero be great? Just a Q+A session with a bit of banter and a pint or two? How about it? For Forum members only!

Nah... just restrict it to forum members who live within say 50 miles of Lissadel....

real-alan, I think we can agree to meet you half way and place restriction allowing only Forum members living within a radius of 300 miles of Lissadell ...
(
including Hotel and B/B residents
)....
