The statement from the event management company cited “logistical issues” for the cancellation but affirmed a commitment to rescheduling the concert for an undisclosed future date.
27 November Phnom Penh concert has been postponed to a date to be announced
It's not over yet folks -
" rescheduling the concert" "concert postponed"
can only mean Leonard plays Phnom Penh in 2011 . There is a crack in everything.

Thank you Wendy, I did not see the thread.
A friend bought tickets to Phnom Pehn Concert, I was thinking about going,
hence my interest,
pity it was cancelled.

Leonard and Dublin, back in the day
.
Extract from recently published book: "Dave Fanning the thing is..."
ISBN: 978-0-00-731076-0. Published 2010. Page 76.
"At the other end of the musical spectrum, I developed an abiding love for Leonard Cohen, just short of the literary, erudite artist who would be shunned by many contemptuous punks.
Cohen played Dublin a dozen times in the 1970s, nearly always at the National Stadium, and I went to every one. Sometimes the ticket demand was so high that he would play a show at 5p.m. and another gig later that evening, and there was no way I would miss either one."

Just heard interview on radio and was reminded of Leonard singing "Kevin Barry" at some of his Concerts in 1972.
( Irish rebel, 18 year old Kevin was executed in Dublin on 1st November 1920).
Leonard has the incorrect year and month and changes the lyrics, nevertheless,
here it is from youtube ..............
4:18 Add to Added to queue Leonard Cohen - Kevin Barry (Shoot me like an Irish soldier)
In Mountjoy Jail one Monday morning,
High upon the gallows tree,
Kevin Barry gave his young life
For the cause of liberty.
Just a lad of eighteen summers,
Yet no one can deny,
As he walked to death that morning
He proudly held his head on high.

Dave Fanning conducted a hour long in-depth interview with Leonard in the 1980s, it was broadcast again on RTE in July of this year, I wonder does anyone have a recording of that interview ?.

I take it you are talking about the radio interview? Leave this with me as I think I have the podcast saved somewhere. Will probably be only available in Ireland though. I remember listening to this the day after I saw Leonard in the O2 last year

The Dave Fanning radio interview was posted on the Forum in 2009 by Maarten,
if you do a Forum search, it should pop up
.
Recently I asked Dave when did he conduct the interview with Leonard, he told me that he was not sure,
he recalled that he did interview Leonard on two occasions,
one interview took place in London, he thinks that was in 1988,
the other interview was recorded in Dublin, he is unsure of the year ( Dick Straub, take note
).
I believe the "interview" which was broadcast last July on RTE Radio 1 was a compilation of material extracted from both interviews
.
"Bock" in the "Leonard Cohen in Dublin - Concert review" records the following exchange between Dave and Leonard.
"A few years back, Dave Fanning asked him what would happen when he took Berlin, and Leonard, in his usual laconic way, took a puff of his cigarette before answering, " I’m not at liberty to disclose the full details, but I can tell you it will involve a lot of new parking meters"

.

Hi,
That FTP-site is down, but I will upload the interview on my own website and put the link here.
Re Dave Fanning:

I have this one on a cd-r somewhere, should check if I can find it easily and I could convert it to mp3 and put it up somewhere too if you want.

Thanks Maarten. I found one on the RTE website but it wouldn't work either.

Hi,
Looks like the file is a bit too big to put on my website (I keep on getting a time-out error...), so will use Sendspace.com for this one:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/z74qjg
I have looked up the other interview (D-Files from 1993) and have imported it into my iTunes library which converted it to mp3. Will upload these files too.
They will be available soon, but it's bedtime now... Sorry guys!
