i heard on the radio this morning that this time fabio isn't announcing the final team line up until 2 hours AFTER the game on sunday
Sounds as if I would fit into Fabios plans if I was still playing . I used to play amatuer football on Sunday mornings and I once forgot to put my clock back one hour in October as you are supposed to do so when I arrived at the ground it was half time . I kid you not . Needless to say I was dropped the week after !

For those of you on the Liverpool to Krakow flight on Thursday 5th August, Easyjet have now changed the time again and it is 7.00 AM
There is however the option of a free transfer to an alternative flight but I think the decision needs to made within about a week. The flight the day before is a more reasonable time, leaving at 13.15 but we need to ensure we can have our chosen accommodation an extra night.

Phil,
I got an email earlier today from Easyjet. But I had to go out so I haven't checked out all the options thoroughly yet.
I don't relish the thought of being at the airport for about 5.00am!

Me neither Margaret but short of booking an extra night in the hotel it looks as if we have no option . The agent we booked it through is going to try and find out why it has been changed because she says it is rare for easy jet to do that . At least we will have longer in Kracow the trouble is we will be spending it in bed . I was only commenting the other day that 1315 was a really convenient time . Trust me to put a jinx on it . We are also unsure if the taxi we have booked to the airport can accomodate us right now . He says he will let us know . Damn and blast ! Why can't life go to plan!!margaret wrote:Phil,

Phil, did you not know that the flight had already been changed from 13.15 on Thursday to 9.25 am?
An even earlier start is less palatable. It looks as if our accommodation , which is quite cheap, is available for Wednesday, but I still need to check with Linda as it means an extra days leave as well if we opt to fly a day earlier. Have you considered driving yourself to Liverpool airport and parking there? It's a reasonable option for a few days and is cheaper booked in advance, and probably much cheaper than a taxi from Yorkshire.
I have used the long stay parking on site and it's very convenient.

[I've never had much exposure to soccer, none other than through videos, but have to admit that I'm pretty happy and proud of how the U.S. is doing in the World Cup, especially after that pretty-roundly agreed-upon weirdness that denied them a win early on.]

Awwwwww. I'm sorry to hear that the U.S. team lost
. I know Ghana must be happy. I feel the U.S. team did well in how far they went, though, for how short a time they've been really truly playing the game, which isn't long at all, considering how long so many other countries have been. Maybe they'll do better next time. I hope so.

Commiserations Lizzy .Your analysis is spot on.A few years ago nobody ever expected the U S to even qualify never mind reach the last sixteen so I think it is fair to say they have come a long way in a short time . If only Christopher Columbus had taken a football instead of a rugby ball with him to give them more time to practice who knows what might have happened . Brazil 2014 is only four years away !lizzytysh wrote:Awwwwww. I'm sorry to hear that the U.S. team lost. I know Ghana must be happy. Re: Just when I climbed this whole mountainside... (Wales 2009)
Thanks, Yorkshire. People's awareness of the sport here is very spotty, so there's been no national drive of support for our team's learning and playing the game, much less competing and winning. The most I've seen of soccer is snippets of footage, never an entire game. Despite all that and their relative 'amateur' status, the team seems to beating themselves up over this loss. The snafu on that goal call seems pretty-roundly understood to have been unfair and didn't help any. I just think it's easier to blame Christopher, as you've suggested. With the U.S.'s competitive spirit and their coming so close this time, I'm betting the next four years will be spent making up for those centuries of practice lost. I doubt they'll just lose spirit, but will try to come back even stronger. We'll see, and I guess I'll be watching
.
