Yes, ~greg certainly has a way with words, does he not?

I agree that Lorca did a very good job with this. Yes, I read she had an antique store. She's also a wonderful photographer. I guess it would be hard to be Leonard's off-spring and not pick up some of his incredible artistic influence.

The tragedy, the irony, manifest in Lorca's video,
is that LC's music never did get this bouncing-girls reaction.

Those that react positively to LC's music, "bed-sit".
They do not bed-bounce.

A great work. A great work showed in the perfect site, the Cohen's forum. Showed by who spends time studying, collecting and deepening into the Cohen's work.

All of your theories seem to me to be interesting, some very funny and in others I do not agree very.

Before seeing this video, I have an idea on Because Of. The song is a Cohen's authentic work. The video it is also but not of such a direct form and certain things cannot be controlled well.

I do not believe in the science of S-Y-M-B-O-L-S like the truth, only I am able of speaking about my feelings.

I have laughed a good time with the detail of the finger as a phallic symbol, I have not thought about it, but I am not sure of this.

Well, in my opinion, it is the fear of an old man to how he will be taken care. The one who has visited hospitals and rest homes or has taken care of his parents has to know about that it meaning. Leonard's state is not this now

, but he plays with this in some parts of the song with humor and irony doing a wink to us

. It is not just pathetic, is a reality about which we will have to think.

i now also saw the video and mut admit that i don't like it too much. the topic of being old is stressed to much, you also get impressions of helplessness, desperation, illness. of course, that's very much cohen-like, but i prefer reading other things out of his words. you could see getting old also as a positive thing. they could have had lc get into contact with the girls, giving them advice and them getting calmer, him getting livelier. something like this.

Annaedith, I have very positive, uplifting and playfull impression from this video (girls, laughing etc; only dancing isn't happy, but deeply passionale and full of love). Otheriwe, maybe you're correct, he actually isn't allowed to meet them in the video, isn't he? (But he can meet Anjani...)

I dont' care if people like the video or not, and for good or bad reasons, I was just reacting to the irrelevancies, let say the unecessary insults. Symbols are sometimes coded intentionally, and sometimes "symbols" are deciphered in the way the person need it. Very useful. I give you an example, last week, I was afraid to be late, and I pray "please God send me a taxi". That, I never did, so to speak, please-God,-send-me-this-or-this, (or otherwise I would have pray for a Mercedes Benz, ey!) I was in a place where taxis are not so abondant, and few secondes later a taxi turned the corner in a hurry. He has someone to to pick up, but accept to take in 'cause it was on his way. Then I sat comfortably and was laughing inside saying "thank you to God to have send me the taxi", then the music that was playing inside struck me : It was the cheerful "I'm a believer", this old song from the Beattles, that is not playing so often either. There, I was almost hilarious, and this changed my mood, I was relax and happy, and it gave me the energy to pass through something touchy in term of bad energy with people I had to deal with. Otherwise, stressed like I was, I would be a dead horse when I had came back home at night. To continue to beat me would really have been a waste of time.

And also, of course there is the S-Y-M-B-O-L-S of the collective uncounscious.

Personnaly, I think that girls are still bouncing everywhere around him, and like it is shown in the video he is amused and bemused, and somewhat do not really understand/is interested by the phenomenon. Just a tought. Have a nice day, ev. Love.

It's very hard to come into those 5% (or 3%) of excellent video clips... Floria Sigismondi's In My Secret Life is there, and also Dominique Issermann's First We Take Manhattan...

This one is at least certainly better than Closing Time (where Leonard had party in bar... this time, he's in girls room:-)

You're one crazy dude. Sometimes a thumb is just a thumb. Even if it's Leonard's thumb. And that thing with the curtain making his tie "disappear"---just amateurish video effects badly done. Doesn't mean a thing. As for an "erect" pen...is there any other kind? I think not.
