I suspect that going home will be a nightmare.

Apparently there will be shuttle buses to the train station which is only circa 15 - 20 minutes away. Actually you could walk there in about that time but there is a main road to cross :? As the buses will be limited, walking to the train might be the better option.

I was thinking of going on the train (you can drink then ;-) ). Last train home from Paddock Wood for me would be circa 23.30 hours (That is based upon current timetable which could change before September). Wonder what time Leonard would finish his set?

I guess I don't mind sleeping on the station if it comes to that

Driving is an option but I suspect that a lot of people will do that and getting out of the car park would be hellish.

In terms of weather, who knows? Early September can be really great. Admittedly it could also be cold and raining.

It's perfectly ok to walk to the station, I did that after their shuttle bus service was delayed. I don't remember the main road (!) so I obviously survived it! It was standing all the way back to London Bridge though...

UK CONCERTS

Post by Jeremy »

I think this is a coup for the organisers - Mr C's profile is so high these days - and a lot of people who enjoy open air festival-type affairs like the one at Hop Farm will doubtless enjoy the set and perhaps some more fans-for-life will be generated. All good stuff.

But I suspect the current fan base, unless they didn't get to concerts in the last tour, will largely prefer to wait for the UK dates in 2013 (more than hinted-at by Rob Hallett already) and hope to see Leonard in a more intimate setting. I have to say that of the six concerts I attended during the 2008+ tour, the one that I would sacrifice if I had to was the Edinburgh Castle one. Great sound and music, but outdoors, vilely cramped seating - and it rained. In July..... Admittedly Florence was also outdoors and fantastic, but that was Florence!

In truth, nothing so far has beaten the first one I went to, in Manchester Opera House. Everything about that time and place was perfect, so I'll be hoping the UK has some more treats in store.

what is the procedure when tickets come on sale tomorrow for registered members? Visit this site and find a link? I hope it's that simple, I'm also sure Lenny could write a fitting ode to current 'web sisters' (and bros) earnestly seeking their tickets of desire !

One thing that would be great to know in advance is whether the seats will be behind the standing area or vice versa...

Yes, some idea of the layout would be useful.

I live in the uk , but The Wirral not Kent.
I'm going to Ghent and Barcelona, both of which are easy to get to via a short( and quite cheap ) flight from Liverpool Airport .
Two short holidays in attractive locations with guaranteed great evening entertainment and hopefully convivial company from other forum members
Hop Farm would be ' tricky ' to get to , and away from , and possibly uncomfortable while there !
So no thankypu
I guess i'm learning that national boundaries aren't that important when going to Leonard cohen concerts !

Nonetheless would be great if the uk was better blessed in 2013. !!

I'll certainly be waiting till next year (forget £100 tickets for open air gigs in September). That said, I'm sorry for U.K. Leonard devotees who will have left the Earth plane between 2009 and 2013!

Yes check the thread for Hop Farm tomorrow as Jarkko didn't get any news from AEG Live yet. The thread is at viewtopic.php?f=58&t=31860
jarkko wrote:I am now at hotel in Amsterdam and had time to check my emails.
AEG has not confirmed the concert. They have not given us any presale links.
The last email earlier tonight made it clear that AEG has not yet authorized
this concert to be announced.
I will check the emails again around 9 am to see if more information¨
has arrived. If not, there is nothing we can do. I will be offline
for most of the day tomorrow. Those who want presale tickets to this
concert should check this thread often tomorrow.

Am SO disappointed--open air,and in the middle of nowhere!!! I don´t drive,so will be travelling from Staffordshire--how easy is this "Hop Farm" to find/get to??
Mind you,as Jarkko said, nothing confirmed yet,and we will know more tomorrow.
I really have two minds about the whole thing---do I really want to stand/sit outside in the British weather?--at a venue which may be near impossible to get to? -----OR do I wait till next year, when they are seriously hinting there may be more UK concerts-????
Decision,Decision.
As much as I adore "The Man"---I don´t want to be sorely disappointed, when I have seen him before at far better venues. Each time,I bid him a fond farewell, thinking this would be the last time I ever get to see him---then he shocks the pants off me by announcing yet another tour!!
Am really confused----Are other "old timers" going to wait to see what 2013 brings--or risk The Hop Farm??

catswhiskers - £95.00 plus booking fee would be the most I have paid for any concert, ever. For that money I would expect the velvet-seat treatment (not have to "hasten to the hay" on Hop Farm)!

I agree John and if anyone has been to The Hop Farm will know it is a shambles. Not much better than Weybridge !!!!
I paid a lot of money when I saw Leonard at Radio City in New York (just happened to be there at the time) but the venue was superb

I think I will give this one a miss and let the 'younger' generation stand around for hours listening to lesser groups while waiting for Leonard.
(I hope for them it will be better than when Bob Dylan performed there.)
Somebody must have died for you

London 02 x 3..... Radio city New York... Wet Weybridge..... Wembley Arena... Brighton..
