Could a Canadian plaster themselves in Maple Leaves? I know some of you have been there before. I missed out last time but would just love to go....can anyone give a very broad estimtate as to how much a thing like this would cost...? I have family in Copenhagen with whom I could stay before/after if need be. I've heard Greece is very expensive.

Ok, guys! The basic info about our next June meetup on the beautiful island of Hydra has been posted on the main site at
http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/backtohydra.html
I will show the names of people who will be there, but there is no registration nor participation fee.
Jarkko
Hi Jarkko,
That is a beautiful photo as are almost all of yours, Eija and Rauli's. Was it taken from one of the Flying Dolphins?
I urge all of you to consider this trip. Anne wanted to tour some more in Greece, but we fell in love with Hydra and stayed there for our whole time. Alas, we probably won't be there this summer as it conflicts with some other plans, but we will be there in spirit and I'll probably try to find some Mythos here to drink and have a glorious salad with tomato, cucumber and feta! Kiss Nicolas on both cheeks for us.

Are you wanting to spend one night in Athens? Margaret and John are inclined to want a midnight flight from the U.K., and then go straight on to Hydra in the morning. Between that younger fellow who offered to show us the best places for eating and whatever else, and Demetris's [at least awhile back] apparent inclination to meet up/ride over with us on the Flying Dolphin, I'd thought a night in Athens would be good. What d'ya think?

You're doing quite well, too, Margaret. Quick study.
Paula ~ I'll PM you with my exact dates off. I seem to need to keep checking, so as to keep them straight. No one's booked anything yet, we're just trying to align ourselves without an eclipse. Due to visits I want to make in the UK ~ and having to deal with any jet lag, one night in Athens would work for me. But, then, I'm negotiable, too ~ not having been there since 1965. I'm hoping Demetris and/or that younger fellow will see this and have some kind of comment.
I need to clear my PM Inbox, so I can rely on receiving responses from you two, as we firm up our plans.

It seems that Masha & I are coming. The costs of stay would be around only 300 euros (600 for two of us; private hotel with lunches), only problem remaining the local costs of "our dinners" - I think that we cannpt afford us expensive dinners every night, guys!
Our main problem now is how to come. First we declined train (Venice-Zagreb-Belgrade-Athens) and plane (because we must fly Zagreb-Frankfurt and there take Frankfurt-Athens), and planned to take boat Venice-Pirreus. But the boat doesn't stop in Rijeka, so we must travel first to Venice or to Ancona, and the boat actually go to some town 200 kilometres from Pirreus/Athens!!! (I forget its name
) !!! We still don't know how to come to Pirreus from there. Then we checked the train again, it's the cheepest but it takes unbelievable 28 hours from Zagreb to Thessaloniki (and then: does it go further to Athens?).
Today we heard that Croatia Airlines has cheap tickets Zagreb-Athens (return tucket less circa 135 euros per person), and it's via Frankfurt but Zagreb-Frankfurt is only 4 hours, so we well reach Athens in 8 hours for not so big money:)
Now we'll check the connections between that port which name I forget and Athens and see the possibilities.

So in the end, we figured out that all boats go to that town (I forget the name again). The plane tickets are pretty expensive (aroudn 300 euros per person), but we would leave Zagreb at 1040 in the morning and reach Athens at 1550 via Budapest
Plenty of time to catch the ferry and be in pension before dinner time
All other lines are thru London (!) or Paris
I just now realised how many days some of you are visiting there. We planned Hydra for June 10-12 plus 2-3 days in Athens before/after. Now we're booking the pension from Thursday 9 evening til Monday 13 (leaving in the morning), and then few days in Athens.
That Hungarian plane would be perfect: 6 hours from my flat to Piraeus

The port is Piraeus! Check the info at

Should I add you two to the listing by now?

"Piraeus"
I keep find Pyrheus and Pirreus also thru google.
The port town I was reffering to is Partas. It seems that all ships go there, and it's 200 kilometres from Piraeus and there's no way to get there from Patras. So the boat is off.
I guess you can, although that won't be for sure until we got conformation from the hotel (there are only three pensions, and the most interesting one /cheap+breakfast/, Anna's pension, does not have an email!) So we wrote to the Erofili.

That's great, Tom! Anna's Pension [I was hoping for that to be the case, when I first saw "pension" in your writing] is where Paula, Megan, Margaret, John, and I will be staying
. I'm so looking forward to meeting you and Masha
. The only thing I have left to book is the flight from the U.S. to England and back. The costs are unbelievably high, at this point [$950+ USD for roundtrip], for that far in advance, so I'm waiting awhile to do that.
