Fun, fun, fun and funny. Paula had the best line of the weekend for me. We were driving to pastures green and verdant, when we happened to pass an elderly man who was wearing full climbing clothes: boots, thick woollen socks over his corduroy trouser bottoms, jacket, etc., and he was hitch hiking. We were full up so I waved to him by way of saying sorry, no can do. He was holding a very long piece of cardboard up with his destination written large on it. He was heading to a Welsh town. Paula said "Blimey, you have to have long cardboard when you're hitch hiking in Wales don't you?"

Greetings from sunny Barcelona!

Just a quick thank you to Diane & Tim and to add another great big thumb´s up for what proved to be a wonderful weekend with friends old & new! I am almost able to walk full speed through the streets of Barcelona now and feel confident that I shall make the hill where Palau Sants Jordi is located-though my system is shot.

Anne & I met up with Sinikka today and we are having dinner together tonight so the wonderful experience goes on. We look forward to seeing many of you this weekend here in Barcelona and will add pictures and comments to the thread once we have returned to Wisconsin.

With Henning reaching 1000 posts it reminded me of this poem I did when I hit 1000..thought I'd share it again whilst thinking of how to integrate Liptrop's second verse into Bernie's poem

So many lines to take on board
To welcome and to greet
These sentences and captive words
Expensive and dirt cheap

And now I find I'm looking back
At ones signed with a 'Pete'
Too many posts to keep on track
A thousand postings deep

The aim is true, the aim is high
To contribute and reap
To be composed and not too shy
To laugh, to smile, to weep.

I haven't always joined the fray
And sometimes press delete
And frequently lose my way
A thousand postings deep

And sometimes when I may be slow
And days turn into weeks
I trust that I can always show

Wow, who needs television with the wit and intelligence on this here Forum. I think in the winter I will go back to the start of all my new friends posts and find out all about them

You should post on the poetry thread more often Pete... and yes it was pete that said i was seeing double but 54 divided by 2 gave me 2 27 year olds that could never ever match the charm, charisma , wit and empathy that one 54 year old would have. I like my age a lot these days

A Yorkshireman apologising to a Derbyshireman? It's here in black and white!!

Anyway, I sold the copyright of the line to Ken for a 10 bob note. He paid me with a 15 bob note and told me to keep the change.

On the way down Cadair.
I'd not been up Cadair to the top for many years and that walk was excellent. Spectacular views from the top or what. Thanks for the walk and the talk, and the silent bits, you seven others.

The nights in the Royal have all merged into one for me so I'll leave the evenings til the end. Next day was Snowdon day. I took far fewer pics on that mountain for some reason but at least I can get through them more quickly. I loved it that most of the group went up, one way or another

We didn't all make the summit at the same time, although we were not far off. Things were very busy up there. Some of the 15 walkers and 8 train travellers:

Yay.... Diane, now I know i wasn't dreaming the whole thing, yep that is me in my underwear ( top half), if that mountain had been any higher , god love the poor sight you guys would have to had to look at... I was sweating like a buffalo ( or as my Ken would say... I was glowing lol )

Wasn't it great to walk into that cloud and then come out above it into the sunshine again, and then look down on it!!

There are a couple of other Snowdon ones I have that are worth copying but that will do for now because apparently I don't have them small enough yet. Haven't seen many other people's pics of that day...?
