Poem for Geoffrey
Re: Poem for Geoffrey
ahhhh, all is right again.
I think I just saw the lights dim a bit in the C.S. thread.
You've just gotta like spring.

… Okay, Mr. Sirus… now, I wouldn’t do this for just anybody… so… well, obviously I’m getting pretty desperate… I’m losing any hope of ever getting you back here again, but I’m at least hoping I’m keeping you entertained from afar… anyway, here it is: my life story… I used to sing this more the way Cher sung it, but, well, ever since Georges and I got, well, suicidally colonized (as it happens), his dankish-Irishness seemed to seep deep inside of me… so, anyway… here goes…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZC614ENBIA4

… and now you know my sad sad tale of woe… or... well, just in case you couldn’t understand it under all that Irish-gypsyish… ness… I’ve provided you with the lyrics… I’ve actually memorized them for those rare occasions that I’m asked to be interviewed… it really comes in handy having one’s life story all prepared like that… I mean, that way, there are no surprises, and everybody’s on the same page… although, usually by the time I get to the second chorus, the interviewer begins to wonder whether I ever really went to Memphis… (that I thought of as obtusely funny, Mr. S., which I thought you’d especially appreciate)… oh, how did you like my Irishy-gypsy-witchy dance moves, by the way.?... pretty special, I think… Anyway, as I was saying… I was…
… born in the wagon of a travelin’ show
My mama used to dance for the money they’d throw
Papa'd do whatever he could
Preach a little gospel, sell a couple bottles of doctor good
Chorus
Gypsies, tramps, and thieves
We'd hear it from the people of the town
They’d call us gypsies, tramps, and thieves
And every night all the men would come around
And lay their money down
Picked up a boy just south of mobile
Gave him a ride, filled him with a hot meal
I was sixteen, he was twenty-one
Rode with us to Memphis
And papa woulda’ shot him if he knew what he’d done
Chorus
I never had schoolin’ but he taught me well
With his smooth Southern style
Three months later I’m a gal in trouble
And I haven’t seen him for a while, uh-huh
I haven’t seen him for a while, uh-huh
She was born in the wagon of a travelin’ show
Her mama had to dance for the money they’d throw
Grandpa’d do whatever he could
Preach a little gospel, sell a couple bottles of doctor good
Chorus fades

seemingly fading affections,

... oh, meanwhile...
Geoffrey??... I'm feeling very guilty when it comes to you... I mean, about... well, about all of this... although I'm secretly hoping it's giving you something mildly entertaining and/or distracting to do... anyway... just to let you know... I've been thinking about you... (underneath all my Sirus-obsessiveness)... and if ever such enigmatic personage (... I of course am referring to this S. person) were to finally come back to us (since hopefully that would mean I'd be in a celebratory mood) (I mean, depending on how nice he was to me)... anyway... what was I saying?... oh, I thought that at that point we might all have a nice picnic or something... although Mr. S. hates sitting on the grass in that Rat Packedly perfectly-pressed suit of his... (I even think Sue does his ironing...)... (geez... what a concession I've made to have even said that).... v.

Yes, I very much enjoy reading these posts. As I have said before, I possess not the poet's mind - and have precious little writing skill. Therefore I take great pleasure in being allowed to enter this area of the forum and witness the creativity. Just wish I could contribute something, but alas - I completely lack talent. I don't know where people get there ideas from. Much warmth - G

Vi-O-let,
I've been shaking my head at your efforts re. Sirus (– i.e. looking for love in all the wrong places). Then Geoffrey comes back and offers you 'much warmth' in exchange for your guilty feelings.

Apologies for inexcusably bad English. Thank you for reading and correcting me, Marisha - that is the best way for me to learn.
I post here only under my real name of 'Geoffrey'. If you, or anyone else, are/is in doubt, you have my permission to contact the webmaster (Jarkko) and ask if he can confirm this. I have, upon a rare occasion, hacked into other peoples' identities and read their private messages (I am an incurable cyber locksmith) - but at no time have I ever posted a message using their name. I look, but never touch. One or two people here know I do this.
On usenet I am 'Snow' - though usually sign with my real name, or perhaps 'g'. In any case, most people know me - I am of an advanced age and have been around for years.
It has been a pleasure making your acquaintance.
Sincerely, Geoffrey

Now will you admit that you've given Mickey your log-in info, and that's why on at least three occasions (two of which were screen captured by me) he signed posts as "Geoffrey".
C'mon, honesty cleanses the soul, besides your on a roll.
