Anyone got a recommendation for a hotel for the 8th July?
You only have to let the soft animal of your body

Cazmac - 'So no kilt just the smell of very good whisky and one great big smile' - this sounds a bit like the Marylin Monroe remark about Chanel No 5. Shall we prepare to be amazed? Will they let you in?

If you are on a budget and want to save your money to buy some art 8) you could look at
http://www.hostelworld.com They are showing a few properties in Manchester, some with private rooms rather than dorm. beds. I don't really know Manchester but have used this website lots of times.

I had a quick look at this site out of curiosity - the first listing, Hilton Chambers, is practically spitting distance from the Richard Goodall gallery so would be a good bet for anyone wanting to stay over, looks alright as well

Not sure if they'll be let in reeking of whisky (be it good whisky or not) :-)

Comrades (and Scots),
Assuming we're thrown out of the gallery at seven for not buying/ not buying enough, might we consider the possibility of an ad hoc meal somewhere close by?
Just seems that many who will be there have never met before and as most will be in thrall of the Master while in his presence (Damellon) we might get to have a bit of crack afterwards and sing some Tremeloes songs - LC might even bring his guitar and belt out a version of Silence is Golden or Right Hand Left Hammer Sham
And even if he doesn't the meal might still be a good idea, hunger being a great sauce for the goose is sauce for the pan that gathers no moss.
Any thoughts?

Just a reminder to those with invitations - you are required to email your name and the name of your guest to the address on the invitation document (not the Richard Goodall Gallery). A list is being compiled and unless your name is on this list you won't be admitted.
Sounds as if they're going to be quite strict about this. And maybe you should put some clothes on Cazmac.

Look forward to getting together after 7.00.

Shall we rely on a Mancunian to suggest a suitable pub nearby?

Hi all

Just a reminder - it is absolute the rsvp for admission - you must have replied to the address/number on the invite. Numbers are strictly controlled and if your name isn't on the list you will not be allowed in. There won't be any exceptions. If you don't have an invite please do not just show up as you won't get in

we can recommend plenty of places to go eat afterwards - the gallery is in the norther quarter where there are plenty of places of all types
