I heard some of the music from Glass's "Notes on a Scandal," as the close-out on a segment on the nominees. It sounded very lush and lovely, emotional.

Thanks for being my straight man (lass) Lizzie -- we went to the flick this afternoon. Music was very appropriate and added to mood without being intrusive. Hoping it does garner a statue. Was planning to post that I liked the music and am more confident I may very much enjoy Book of Longing music too.
For what its worth... a very engaging couple of hours - plot, acting, make for a strong movie. A reviewer who I know hit it on the head .... "Fatal Attraction for the art house crowd."

Hey, no problem, BD

... NPR doesn't show films

, so you're the lucky ones

. Interesting way the reviewer called it

Hotel update
I got very nervous finding only rooms of $395 and up, and then being told Delta Chelsea was a sell out --- BUT
Checking today, deluxe rooms are in fact available for 149 (senior or AAA) and up. Smoking rooms seem to be about $20 less than non-smoking.
In addtion we have the helpful links in earlier posts to rooms booked by other particpants. Hopefully all will still be able to get their desired accomodations.
This link to the Delta chain, or linking directly to the Delta Chelsea should all work...
http://reservations.deltahotels.com/Availability.aspx?
It will be helpful to others if everyone posts where they will be staying.
Also, talking to ticketmaster today, they advised to keep checking the site regularly and NOT to rely on email alerts.... sigh .. SO, when anyone gets a link to purchase the seats from ticketmaster.ca - please post that alert here!
Theater has 1500 seats, and show is on for 3 nights, so am reasonably sure we'll all get in.....
Still more excited daily!

You certainly did get nervous, Dick... posted this 3 times

. Time for Jarkko's magic.
Is that $149 CAD or USD? I've reserved at the same hotel where John and Mrs. K., and Evelyn are staying... but can't remember for how much. Need to wait till I get home to check. Too much checking, too many numbers. Can't remember where I landed. Good thing is that I can cancel up until 6 PM on the date of check-in... so, if something else is less, but still desirable...

Hi John ~
Well, I just checked... and it's looking like the Delta Chelsea would cost more. As I said, won't know for sure till I get home, but for now... where is the D.C. located relative to 'us' and the venue? We'll probably leave it as is...
Yes! Get that Mrs. K on the list, will ya

Not really...
. . . just got new fiber optic service installed.. Really noticeable speed difference!!!!!
Who's the provider and what are the installation and monthly costs?
I now have [whatever it is] that allows me to be on the phone at the same time, rather than dial-up, but it still comes with glitches.
I guess this is conversation that could be saved for Toronto because I won't be getting anything different before then, anyway... but, by then, I may also forget to ask

... six of one, half dozen of the other
