Byron, I hope Margaret managed to give you a detailed low-down of how good Dublin was. Great pity you weren't there. On the other hand, I'd have been a missing a room-mate if you had been... . Yes, ta for the pics, Tim. Brings it all back.

On the way home from the Point on wednesday, I tried to get into the Clifton Court..unfortunately the bouncers were trying to get people out, not let them in... He confirmed that there were Cohen songs on the jukebox so next time I'm up, I'll definitely go and have a few pints and enjoy the music
So sorry I didn't meet anyone from this site but as I was staying with friends I had to go for dinner with them, then dash to the Point. Looking forward to next year when LC goes on tour....

I wondered if we'd missed you Jammy/Pauline. Your photos are very good. Did you have a seat right up front?

Hi Diane..I took a seat up front for the last 7 songs..a bit cheeky but sure they were empty and I took a chance...the photos were taken with a borrowed digital camera. I found it a bit strange not looking through a view-finder..however it turned out ok.

Diane wrote: ps Andrew! we visited the Clifton Court Hotel. Alas, Sean was off sick, we were told by his barman friend. We left a note behind the bar for him, anyway. We had a nice meal there, Margaret and I, and it did look as if it would be a nice place to stay. Mission semi-accomplished.
Diane, thanks for that - I really appreciate your commitment to a task that may have distracted you from other more worthwhile pursuits! 8)

I don't know what meal you had, but I can vouch for the deliciousness of the Irish stew! :D

Cheers :)

One of the great highlights for me of visiting Dublin this time was the Hugh Lane gallery. There was a bit too much walking for my taste in this visit, so to my great delight, the B&B was located very close to the Hugh Lane gallery - Dublin's old municipal gallery and the home of the great Fancis Bacon's Studio. http://www.hughlane.ie/fb_studio/index.html I was thrilled with this display and I spent ages in there exploring the exhibit. They also had eight Bacon paintings in the gallery. It was most impressive.
