Really? And in what way exactly the “Dylans, Cohens and Morrisons of this world have been 'layin' it down' for forty or more years?”
By accumulating millions of dollars in their personal bank accounts and investing them?
Dem- it was exactly what drew my attention too. The pop culture "heroes," worshipped by Boss and many more so much like him. Those "heroes" who show society its own ugliness at the same time think it is completely natural to court its favors and strive for recognition from it. Boss goes as far as calling them prophets. Is hard to imagine a prophet who would not risk his life for telling the truth to the prince or the king or whoever the ruler is? What would be these "prophets" risking with, the Cohens and the Morrisons and the Dylan's? Risk of loosing money in some shady business investment? Clearly, if they have written some smart lines and had some good observations, it has nothing to do with status of a prophet. They are entertainers with good business sense, knowing well what sells at certain times.

'Realistic' or not, Boss, I enjoy the feeling that comes with reading your description of a world that 'could' be. It would, of course, need to be worldwide for it to happen as you envision. Without dreams, we're lost. So, hold on to yours ~ no matter what the naysayers have to say about it.

Bossman...the only thing I can imagine is earning money as fruits of my labor - there is much nobility for me in that - and my next vacation to Bahamas.
I'll let you and other prophets solve the problems of the world.

p.s. BTW, for someone who proposes such an equal and classless world with so much passion how come you picked "Boss" as your screen name?

In a pack of dogs, in an ant colony and even in a group of our close relatives the gorillas, there are 'rules' - ways to act. All religions have them. It is discipline. And why can't we live without money yet uphold a sense of civic service, civic duty? Why not?

Thanks for your support Elizabeth. I do envisage a WORLDWIDE movement, how else? And bugger the naysayers - they're too lost in concrete to see the sunset.

Kush, there would still be bosses in the world. Competition is a part of human nature; just as long as you follow the rules and that your primary concern is for your fellow human being. You see Kush, once you remove the veil of money you have to open up to many things. Greed dissipates and love starts her dance. I don't adhere to Marxism, nor Capitaliam, nor Fascism nor any ism. I believe in Humanity and that we can live together in peace. That our INTENT can shift from profit to love.

Someone had to choose the name 'Boss'!

'Comrade' seems more apropos.

p.s.

Reminded me of something......

"Yes, this is a business office, but I'm not a businessman per se. I'm here working for the people. I'm causing dissent, stirring the pot, getting people to question the whole rotten system."

- George Costanza trying to get a date with a communist.

Sorry Linda, not a great fan of that either, you see I've had enough of it. "I'm sick of pretending, I'm broken from bending, I've lived too long on my knees." Time to go for Boss...

Call me 'comrade' Kush, call me anything you like, the essence of my idea still stands. We can live a much more wonderful, much more bountiful way of life without money. It will just take a little time to sink in. Think of a peasant in Bangladesh; a peasant in Bangladesh under the hot sun. And know there is meaning in all this. I am fair dinkum.

In peace to you both

No wonder Linda you are scared-feels like we've been visiting somebody in de loony bin. Perhaps we are-perhaps someone in the white coat stands right behind this bossman, monitoring his allowance to use de computer for 1/2 hour? I can visualize that situation more and more clearly

Boss also reminded me of something.........
Imagine

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.
But John didn't get as much grief as Boss has for his dreams.

Yes, Rob-he didn't have that much grief-most of the time in his life John was on some sort of drugs, and then he died.

Money obdviously causes you anguish Boss. Either you have too much or too little who can honestly admit that they have enough? When was the last time you were worried about paying your rent or mortgage? When was the last time you debated wheter or not you would have to go to a soup kitchen for your next meal. Do you contemplate selling a kidney to buy a cardboard box to sleep in? Do you really know what poverty is.

THE MINIATURE EARTH . CD version

If we could turn the population of the earth into a small community of 100 people, keeping the same proportions we have today, it would be something like this:

61 Asians
12 Europeans
14 Americans (from North and South America)
13 Africans
01 Australian (Oceania)

50 women
50 men

10 are homosexuals

33 are Christian (Catholics, Protestants and Orthodox)
18 are Muslims
16 are Hindus
16 are non-religious
6 are Buddhists
11 practice other religions

41 live without basic sanitation
16 live without an improved water source

6 people own 59% of the entire wealth of the community

13 are hungry or malnourished
14 can't read
only 7 are educated at a secondary level
only 8 have a computer
only 4 have an internet connection

1 adult, aged 15-49, has HIV/AIDS.

Of the village's total annual expenditures of just over US$ 3,000,000 per year:
US$ 181,000 is spent on weapons and warfare...
US$ 159,000 is spent on education...
US$ 132,000 is spent on health care.

If you keep your food in a refrigerator
And your clothes in a closet
If you have a roof over your head
And have a bed to sleep in
You are richer than 75% of the entire world population.

If you have a bank account
You're one of the 30 wealthiest people in the world.

25 struggle to live on US$ 1.00 per day or less...
47 struggle to live on US$ 2.00 per day or less.

Work with passion
Love without needing to be loved
Appreciate what you have
And do your best for a better world.

No, John Lennon didn't get as much grief for his vision, Rob. He was John Lennon. He was John Lennon when he was born, when he woke up and when he went to bed. He had no screen name to hide his vision behind.

Linda.

PS: And I believe that John Lennon truly believed in his vision.
