Well, I can transfer tapes to cdr. It's a bit time-consuming trying to improve the sound quality but I'll volunteer for that. My typing is rather slow, so maybe someone else is better able to transcribe the interviews for you.
On the subjects of hats, I am sure I have seen L C wearing hats in photos or on film even in his younger days. so it didn't strike me as a new development.

yes, he did wear the hat in 1985 Roskilde tape I have; I'd claim it's the same hat from In My Secret Life video clip.

Maybe we could share the job? I don't know anything about improving the sound thru softwares, nor I have the equipment for doing that, but I know people are making such things (like on some new shows transferred from tapes, where the sound was improved and the errors removed). Can the tape be re-recorded into CDR and then maybe someone can load the files from CDR back to computer and edit it? But I guess we need only simple removing of the hissing.
I know the people have difficulties with tracking the CDRs. I personally hate the interview CDRs without tracking (mostly in just two tracks: from the original side A and B
). For those two tapes I have, I made the plan for tracking (in Word document). You can simply make the tape into CDR, and I'll track it in Nero Burning Room. Then only the original CDR must be destroyed so we don't get the two versions circulating: the tracked one and not tracked one.
Maybe lizzytysh will find the time for another transciption

Maybe it would be better that I send you CDs than cassette tapes, so these tapes waiting for the transferring are out of game. I will check all my interview CDs to see what's not transcibed yet on Jarkko's or Marie's site, and also DVDs/VCDs, maybe there are some good talks worth typing

Tom, It is not a problem to load the contents of a cassette tape into a computer if you have the right connecting lead. The difficult part is then to try to improve the sound as much as possible while it is in the computer, using a software program to examine the sound waves and smooth out or soften the worst of the background noise. Putting in track markers is quite easy. We only burn it onto a cd when it is as good as we can get it. I still need my son to help with all this, but we should get a bit quicker with practice!
