Thank you Roman! Sometimes a first look is it!

Now you have instantly put this idea into my mind so see if you or anyone else can figure out what song this line comes from ;-)

1→ → → → → → → → → → → → → → →→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→

Hm ...

"True love leaves no traces"?

Because of the line "Like arrows with no targets".

haha! Hartmut.....your subconscious has done it again

That's the right song alright but I was thinking of another line -
"When one is gone and far". The arrows show that one is directionally going away and far because of the perspective change to the rest of the closely positioned arrows.

But your line works too so over to you!

EDIT: Just another instant random thought ......a line from the same song could be ?U + I = 1
"If you and I are one". OK I'll stop now

Maybe it was your subconscious? - You read/heard the lyrics, and then later when you tried to come up with a way to paraphrase that line, you subconsciously remembered the word "arrows" ...

"If you and I are one".
You seem to be very mathematically inclined ...

Okay, here's a quick one:

In the 80s Leonard did a (live) cover version of a quite famous song whose first line may be considered a precursor of the chorus from "Anthem".

Would you be so kind as to name the title of that song? (It's even an Australian one, Bev. - Or maybe I'm giving away too much now ...)

Possibly this original Bee Gees song -

To Love Somebody
First line: There’s a light
Second line: a certain kind of light (LC: a very special light)

Leonard does a great cover of this song and it's an excellent one to play on the violin :D

EDIT: ha! Hartmut, I'm sure that our subconscious minds have a wavelength all of their own and definitely know more than we do ;-)
btw - maths was not my best subject but I do use algebra equations all the time to work out things. As I am a visual person, I find that visual logic is perfect for me :) Actually my top A grade subjects were Art, English, French, Geography and History.

Thanks Hartmut, Yes, I was officially taught piano as a child and have played and studied music/theory independently over the years. As you are probably aware, I have an eclectic taste in music and play the violin. My maternal grandparents were wonderful violinists. I'm striving to get to their standard.

OK now finally I have a question prepared :)

It has been said on very good authority that this song could, amongst other things, be describing a truth of deception.
There are varying versions sung in concert over the years as well as the official one. One version is included in some of the last long World Tour set lists – several of you could have seen it live.
A different altered version has been officially recorded by another singer on a celebrated album ;-)

And what a wonderful instrument it is. I was quite happy when they added Alex to the band. I hope you had a chance to attend one of those concerts.

As for your riddle: I'm reasonably sure you're talking about "A Singer Must Die". - I can still remember how surprised and delighted I was when I heard that song live for the first time; in Stockholm I think.

I had been hoping for the inclusion of a violin when the World Tour started in 2008 and sadly no violin at the concerts I went to in 2009 and 2010. I was beyond happy when it finally happened! When the UHTC came back to Australia in 2013 I attended 8 concerts within a few weeks. I had such a wonderful time. Of course, I would love to repeat that odyssey but I think I will have to settle for those outstanding memories. Mind you, in the long run, I'd be happy with just Leonard and his guitar.

Well done Hartmut! That’s the song. I'm glad you enjoyed it in concert. From my memory Leonard sang it approx four times in Australia in 2010.

Back to you again.

That's the way to do it!

Yes, I would run quite long for something like that as well ...

There is a relatively unknown song by Leonard Cohen that has the line: "a secret chord that David played, and it pleased the Lord"

Can you name a Cohen song that was co-written by a colleague of David?

Yes, it is!

(I was just trying to change "co-written" to "allegedly co-written", but you were quicker.)

Interesting ...

The line "2.54" makes me think you're talking about either "I'm Your Man" or "Closing Time".

And "27" probably refers to "Tower of Song".

But the rest is a mystery to me.

Are all these lines from the same song? Or are you talking about eight different songs?
