Tinderella has already covered it, but just as I scrolled to her own comments, I was thinking how funny you are, Phil, and was considering saying something about it.

It's good to know that things are finally coming together for your sister, Tinderella. And I was wondering about the outcome with Megan and Spain, Paula :? .

HI everyone, thanks for the good wishes to Mambo. I phoned her this morning and she was vegetating on the sofa watching Goodfellas lol. She said to thank you all for your kind wishes

She survived the journey thankfully, even though the ferry was delayed a further 2 hours as there was luggage on that should not have been on it.
She has not been put off travelling to Kracow :)

Won't be long now

Hi Lizzytysh
Thankyou for the compliment but where I live you have to develop a sense of humour to keep the muggers happy so they only rob you if you get my drift !

Sweet lamb! This will be post number 999!
Someone call the cops. How did I get away with it and I cannot even write a decent rhyme.

I will have to carefully consider what I write for post number 1000, this may take some time, so Phil cut me some slack :) :)

Think long and hard before you post the magic thousand so take you time and here is something for you to mull over while you do ;

A Thousand Postings Deep

This thread will run with so much fun
The odds are there to beat
We write awhile and then it’s done
Until again we meet
And summoned now this deal
No one will ever defeat
This is our thread and it is real
A thousand postings deep

I’m turning tricks I’m getting fixed
I’m back on Barmouth street
I lost my grip and then I slipped
With blisters on my feet
And maybe I was there to climb
With promises to keep
I did my best to stay alive
A thousand postings deep

And sometimes when the night is slow
The forum do we seek
We gather up our hearts and go
A thousand postings deep

Confined to text we press against
This keyboard that we see
There are for now no mountains left
For mountaineers like me
I made it home but what the heck
Fond memories I will keep
I bless my friends who stayed awhile
A thousand postings deep

I’m turning tricks I’m getting fixed
I’m back on Barmouth street
I guess we have exchanged the gifts
That we were meant to keep
Forever is my thought for you
This file is not complete
So we must not forget to do
Two thousand postings deep

And sometimes when the night is slow
The forum we must seek
And gather up our hearts and go
Two thousand postings deep

........you do realise that by putting that sausage in the recycle bin that all those pig bits such as lips, snouts, eyes, genitals, trotters etc. are all going to end up in somebody else’s sausage

.....methinks that maybe you have by now surpassed the original english poet and fellow yorkshireman caedmon in both quality and quantity...please keep 'em comin'.

...here is the only surviving work from the quill of caedmon consisting of just nine lines .....i have been struggling for weeks trying to translate these lines which are written in a combination of old english and germanic latin which i know is still spoken down there in the people's republic of south yorkshire...so using your knowledge of the language maybe in krakow we can discuss the matter further....

since the venerable bede's translation was discredited by members of the bob dylan expecting rain website scholars and non-scholars alike have been arguing over the true meaning of caedmon's famous 9 lines.......below is the dylan fan's translation...but of course this has still not been officially accepted as the definitive translation.

the odd smiley here and there is no problem...it's the continual over use of the bloody things that occurs on this site that i find demeaning :D ...and thank you for not having used the 'a' word.....ta ken

WE HAVE A WINNER ! Congratulations Ken you have just won the first prize of a self funded trip to Kracow with two of the most wonderful , great , outstanding , remarkable , excellent , marvellous, awe.... ( Oops ! Nearly ) people you will ever meet . Infact one of them will carry your luggage for you ! . Verification of your winnings will be sent to you just as soon as I find the " let's ban smileys and the word awe.... thread " which may take awhile !
It just goes to show you can never trust historians . I contacted an expert on Germanic latin and he told me the nine lines were on Caedmons tombstone and roughly translated go like this :

Here lies a poet of Yorkshire birth
Called Caedmon the salt of the earth
He lived in an abbey in Whitby town
And on his face was a permanent frown
All of his poems had nine lines you see
An unusual number you must agree
So he wrote them in latin to cover his crime
To hide the fact the end does not rhyme
Just like this one

This is your other prize Ken enjoy !
