I apologise in advance if this question has already been answered by one of you guys (I have glanced through the pages and have not found it) but I am unable to book the priority bus tickets online as I do not have a credit card (yes I am a Neanderthal). Is it possible to buy them on the day of the concert?
Yes at the old discoversligo office on Countess Markievicz Road, near Shenanigans and The Garavouge meet-up venues.
Priority coaches will leave from there throughtout the day.

The epic, exciting journey begins in just over 48 hours. We leave Canberra on Saturday morning and fly to Beijing via Sydney. On Tuesday we leave Beijing and will be in Dublin on Tuesday evening. After a night in Dublin, we head for Sligo and will stay in a place that looks like a little bit of heaven.

On Saturday, we will be at the heavenly concert. On Sunday, we return to Dublin. On Monday, we head back to Canberra with a short stopover in Hong Kong.

The next time we see Leonard, the journey will only be 600 kms return (Sydney in November).

Whether it be 60,000 kms or 600 kms, to be at a Leonard Cohen concert in such a wonderful setting as Lissadell House, will be the experience of a lifetime.

It will also be great to meet the wonderful Forum members on Saturday in Sligo.
Sydney & Bowral 2009. Lissadell Sligo July 2010 (what a night!). Sydney & Hanging Rock November 2010. Bimbadgen Winery, Hunter Valley, Nov 2013. Sydney Opera House, Dec 2013.

Wishing you a safe and enjoyable trip Mikeaus. I thought I was an expert on making short trips which no sane person would contemplate but your epic journey puts all my adventures in to the shade, including our current drive to Zagreb for the opening concert on Sunday.

Hi Mike and Janis!

You are truly arriving in Sligo from the greatest distance. An epic adventure for Leonard! Safe travels and look forward to meeting you in Sligo!! Several of us will be arriving from the US in the coming days....but a much shorter trip. It appears that you, myself, and Leslie (mutti) are heading from Dublin to Sligo on the same day. If you are travelling by train, I will keep an eye open for a couple of slightly tired looking Aussies :D I seem to remember the lodge you will be staying at and it is indeed magnificent...a lovely place to recuperate and relax before the concert!

Bon voyage!

I know many of you enjoyed the fine article on Leonard and Lissadell in last Saturday's Irish Independent,
"When Two Old Treasures Meet". (see News section on the Forum )
Watch out for next Saturday's Irish Independent "Saturday Review" section ( page 24) for another article by Nick Kelly in which he interviews Sharon Robinson and Charley Webb .
I have been trying for a number of years to arrange for Ireland's well known interviewer,
Turtle Bunbury, ( google him ) author, historian and ardent Leonard Cohen fan,
to hold an interview with Leonard himself,
alas without much success but we live in hope,
if anything should ever come of our efforts the Forum will be the first to know .
The Irish Times are doing article in this Friday's entertainmeant section.
Are you able to get the articles on PDF again ?.
I have seen Tutle's books, he would be the right man for interview, jeney.

My final suggestions for meeting on Tuesday.
A charity tie-up
I think it is nice that the businesses of Sligo are going to get such a boost but I suggest that there could also be a charity tie-up as people are going to have a few bob to hand for sure. Not noticed that at other concerts but would the LC organization have any objection?
rpan has suggested, in an email, that I mention once again and maybe give a little background to the nominated Charity for the weekend collection of 30th July to 1st August.
The Sligo branch of the Bill W. Club is the nominated Charity.
"A Launch Pad Back to Reality -- From Darkness to Light "
Collection Boxes will be placed around the town and the Venue for gathering up loose change from concert-goers.
I know that as an ex-addict himself, Leonard has been invited around for a cup of tea and a chat but that is entirely up to themselves.
Here is a link with some information on the Bill W. Club.

BILL W.CLUB IN DONEGAL. - Bill W ClubIreland's First Constant Non Residential Aftercare Centre. Run by people in Recovery from Addiction. Alcohol, Drugs, Gambling and all general addictions ...

Thanks again rpan for the suggestion ;-)

Checked most long range weather forecasts for North-West.
all point in the direction of fine weather for concerts.
Here is today's report from weather gossip...
"The Summer will return to Southern parts of Ireland in the next 10 Days and temperatures will rise into the low twenties at times up until the first week of August. However in the Northern half of Ireland there will be more in the way of rainfall. Temperatures here will be only 16 or 17c and perhaps they will touch the 20c mark on some of the sunnier days but overall these areas will be duller than normal. The wind direction will often be from the Atlantic reducing the risk of a prolonged heatwave".

As a newbee I didn't know what time the concert on 1 Aug would start - impotant info as my partner has low mobility and can't do too much hanging around. Why is that info so hard to get? Anyway have now heard back from POD that concert starts at 19:30 - thought I should share in case there are others who, like me, need to know. Getting really excited now... ...

As someone else once said in a slightly different context, I haven’t gone away you know. Only one great unanswerable question now remains: will the Limerick tunnel be open by this day week? Only eight more sleeps to go (well discounting nodding off on the sofa, none of us are any younger now). I hope Leonard has been charging up his batteries. Zagreb will be a pointer, so that actually begs a second unanswerable questions: to peek or not to peek at the set list. Is it better to know or not to know? Ah, the great philosophical questions. ‘Why does it hurt when I pee’, as someone else once said in a slightly different context, that is a song lyric not a UTI!
when she came back she was nobody's wife . . .

Location: frantically searching for where I hid the tickets
Glad I'm not the only one unable to locate me tickets :? .
fact is, if lost, once you have the Block / Row / Seat numbers and contact Ticketmaster with details, you're okay.
sceachgeal, did you get to unload the extra tickets :?: .
