Not sure when I'll make it through Page 1, only that I will...
After all these years. It must be a sign ...or a warning! Now, if it's a sign then I can ponder what to do. If it's a warning, then I must act doubly fast. I know what I'll do. I'll wait for a sign to tell me whether it is a sign or a warning.
And Handy sat there ....and he waited ...and he waited.
Paula, in the meantime, was still gazing at her '9 high'. Beads of sweat were starting to appear on her forehead. She was confident that the light was too dim for her 3 captors to see reflections of her cards in the droplets. . . .
'The Diamond's Mine'. Handy reached down and started to read. He came to the part that read.
'"Next junction," shouted Paula, "turn left."
Bobbles steered left. . . .
[Such a tease, Pete... will you ever 'explain' the title? ] . . .
"It's a sign!!!"
"And a warning!!!!"
"Paula is in trouble. I must go save her."
 You... are a trip, Pete  .

Goodnight till tomorrow  .

Love,
Lizzy

The Dutchman and Pompey turned as one. Timister switched his and Paula's cards as fast as grease lightning. The Dutchman and Pompey turned back as one and questioned Timister's ability to tell the time.
"It's only 10 o'clock!" they jointly responded. "It's about time you had your eyes tested Timister.
Timister deployed an air of innumeracy. "Sorry folks."
Paula checked her cards. Suddenly there was hope. "What version of poker are we playing?" she enquired with a sense of knowledge and understanding of this holy game. "Do we get to bet chips...and possibly some fish... and mushy peas?"

   ~ All of it 8) 8) !!

Today, I'm looking for a milestone ~ completing Page 1  . Brought work home from work to work on over the weekend. [Yes ~ it was fun saying that  .] So, I need to dovetail that 'potent stuff with anything else I do with this computer today... but, dang it, Pete, I just keep laughing out loud. My cats are wondering what the deal is...

Can't wait to keep going...
"That's a nice pair you have," the boys all said, as one.
Paula was momentarily distracted by this immature, sexist comment . . .

 Thanks for pointing it out, Pete... would've missed it otherwise... and you can ignore my own, unintended pun  .

Now! I'll keep going, again...

This confirmed that she was indeed amidst a true life saga where fact and fiction were indistinguishable and black and white were as grey as the room in which she was presently occupied.
Nice depiction of that reality blurrrrr....

Have you begun your sequel yet, Pete 8) ?

The Dutchman's anger was ten fold. "You swallowed it????Why didn't you tell us before that you had swallowed it???"
Dakri's features, although dimly lit and distorted, showed a hint of bravery.
"You didn't ask nicely."

And it was on this note that they all sat around Dakri, on stony floor with crossed legs ...that is, the crossed legs belonging to the assembled listeners and not the stony floor ...as that would be silly having a trilogy with a crossed legged stony floor.

He could spot a diamond at 4000 flaps of a wing and this diamond was his best catch yet. The other seagulls had penned a name for him. In the seagull fraternity he was known as....
'Jonathan Gemstone Seagull'
"4000 flaps of a wing" ~ WoW 8) .
Love his nick, too :D .

Making progress ~ in a new section now :o ~ next-to-the-last for page one, in fact :D . Whoooo... jes' speedin' along here, open freeway and all  .

Cricket! It has been awhile... so that's why seeing your name there, I came here to tell you I'll be picking up with this, shall we say 'lovely' story, soon... and maybe by the close of weekend, I really will have finished Page 1  . Come to think of it, now that I've commented, locating it won't be nearly the task it woulda been...

Hi Pete ~

I was going to bring this segment and then that, and then I'd block out even more, as I kept adding, figuring I'd just delete whatever I wanted from its middle. Finally, I just gave up... and am not bringing any of it here.

Let it suffice to say that I've laughed multiple times in just getting from near the bottom of page one to the bottom of page one... and you're just going to have to guess which parts made me roll with laughter. A much needed break today 8) .

Bottom Line ~ Milestone ~ Page One Done

On To ~ Page Two ~ Thank You!

"Where are we going?" asked Lauralia.
"Yes, where are we going? added Timister.
Paula pondered the situation carefully. "We're desperately seeking Tweeets."
Pete ~ next time you're going to be on our Scavenger Hunt team  . You got it goin' on :) .
Timister pulled a calculator from his pocket and fervently punched the keys. "Technically we can't surround them. There's seven of them and only six of us."

 You maths people are a trip.
Why do you wear a 'H' if you're not happy?"
"Because I'm 'Henny the red dwarf' and so be it," he sternly replied, "and these are my fellow dwarfs, Party, Darby, Jarky, Demmy, Roboyo and DocK."
 What's to say  ?

Ah. Now, finding this thread will be much easier :D .

OH NOOOOooooooo ~ It's OVER  :( !!!!!!!

I thought it was going to be THREE pages!! I want to read more, Pete... you must go on. When can we expect the sequel? Huh??

From this point on... and from many other points on...
Talking about reflections it could be said that Paula could see herself in Tweeets .... her own reflection was a myriad of shard images distributed across the million icy pieces of Tweeets .....quite a surreal occurrence.
So funny and way too much to quote  .

Geez... never in a million years would I've dreamed Leonard would be even for a moment with a bingo caller... not even th'best in th'land... not even for a moment would I'd've dreamed... nope. NEVER would I've dreamed. Thankin' ya for the bestest storybook ending I coulda hoped for... and never ever dreamed 8) . You're great, Pete... please have Liz give you a big hug from me... thanks, Liz :D !!

Wonderful teller... stories that is. Not banks. I'm going to miss this bit of GUAR AN TEED relaxation and laughter. I love the way your mind works, Pete. A lot going on behind all those equations and formulas... or forumulaes :) .

Phew!!
Glad you enjoyed it
I thought you were never going to make it!
I could have changed the ending a thousand times before you reached it...but I didn't

I'm in the process of tidying up parts of it and writing in some additional descriptive prose.

A sequel?? I'll wait until after the film comes out :)
..although I do have some ideas (watch out Harriett :o  ) but I have another project in the pipeline first...keeps me out of mischief.

Happy birthday...consider a thawed Leonard Cohen as your birthday present. :D
Love

I thought you were never going to make it!

You're not the only one  .
. . . and writing in some additional descriptive prose.
Oh, terrific, Pete  ... JUST terrific  . Would you mind making some footnotes as to WHERE EXACTLY those might be!?!
I could have changed the ending a thousand times before you reached it...but I didn't.

Yes, and don't think I wasn't checking the dates of those edited lines as I read, too. That's good to hear... all's well that ends well, they say.

What project, Pete? What? WHAT!?! [Sorry for yelling, got a little excited there... you and your coyness... ] A new mathematical formula from Britain about to make breaking news?

Ah! A thawed Leonard Cohen... yes... perfect gift for any occasion 8) . Glad it just happened to be mine ~ and, as you'll note... in GMT, it was, too :D .

Thanks for your gift and your wishes, too, dear and funny Pete... see, now, there was a real, really good reason it took me so long. Just when I was believing I'd been left behind in that desolate, howling [oh, that was Paula, sorry... ] bingo hall... there I am, poosh! at Leonard's feet. If one must magically appear somewhere, where better to be :D ?

Dear Pete,
"bonus material".......is there more of your fantastic farrago to follow?...will I have to re-employ another lawyer?.....do I care?...oh yes I do :D . It's about time you tidied up some parts of it and wrote "some additional descriptive prose" (sic)
Like I said, get it published 8)

as aye,
Andrew.
