Hey!

I never thought of that! And I love that song, too!
But the poem was written quite a while before
I ever heard Meatloaf
In fact, at the time, I would probably have had strong moral objections to the song.
I also refused to listen to Lay Lady Lay, (Bob Dylan) because it was immoral - and I LOVED the song! Sheesh! I even destroyed my recording of it!
Happily, I am no longer religious.

Though I still tend to be a touch extreme in my opinions, lol!

Oh, Fljots. Then let's indulge. That's my fave Bob Dylan song actually sung by Bob Dylan.
Lay, lady, lay, lay across my big brass bed
Lay, lady, lay, lay across my big brass bed
Whatever colors you have in your mind
I’ll show them to you and you’ll see them shine
Lay, lady, lay, lay across my big brass bed
Stay, lady, stay, stay with your man awhile
Until the break of day, let me see you make him smile
His clothes are dirty but his hands are clean
And you’re the best thing that he’s ever seen
Stay, lady, stay, stay with your man awhile
Why wait any longer for the world to begin
You can have your cake and eat it too
Why wait any longer for the one you love
When he’s standing in front of you
Lay, lady, lay, lay across my big brass bed
Stay, lady, stay, stay while the night is still ahead
I long to see you in the morning light
I long to reach for you in the night
Stay, lady, stay, stay while the night is still ahead
I know this isn't 'poetry and music by the forum members' but Lizzy gave me permission, somewhere else, to post song lyrics anywhere I damn well like. And I've only just begun...

Ah...! I just love that song!
But only the earlier version. One he did somewhat later sounds dreadful, imo. I have the nice version.
Thanks for posting the lyrics, Diane.

I could hear him singing as I read the words. It's his very best song, imo.
