Not having seen Heathcliffe's, serious post before I wrote this, I want to clarify that this is in response to your post, Laurie:

A portion of lyrics from an old song come to mind ~ " . . . sl-i-i-i-i-i-ppin' and a sl-i-i-i-i-din' / p-e-e-e-e-e-pin' and a h-i-i-i-i-i-i-din' . . . " .

Whoops. This is s'posed to be serious, so here's m' best  .

I feel just a tad like Colombo, when I ask, "Oh, by the way...how was it that such an opportune moment for calling someone else a 'smart cookie' was passed up, when mention was made that this could be a wind-up; and, instead the following was posted?
My response was quite serious.
If you want to feed baby food to a 23 year old guy, fine.
Would you mind giving me a little more information on that?"

I hope you at least eat organic when you try to feed this kind of "smart cookie" stuff to people now. [Not that Margaret isn't one ~ that's not my point.]

However, some people this age take their own lives over stuff of this nature ~ but, I guess their cries for help and attempts to express their pain, would be 'wind-ups,' too, wouldn't they. I'm definitely not suggesting Heathcliffe's posting was of that nature. Reality is, though, that some people are very tender of heart and he was pretty obviously feeling vulnerable when he wrote. If I were that age, and looking for someone who might understand how I was feeling, and be able to give some relevant feedback, I think this site would be a pretty good bet. I also think he got the kind of relevant feedback he was hoping for.

P.S. Amidst your whingeing, with not  saying "you/she started it," just a notation of fact ~ when it came to name calling, I personally bypassed all opportunity [but did truly feel that Heathcliffe needed to consider equal application, if he were going to move about in that department], and then here came the ol' "passive-aggressiveness" reference, the "opportunistic" one that you did not bypass. Hmmmm. Just doesn't all fit, somehow.

Vince, you should meet my friend Chantelle.

Once the clinic give her the all clear, we'll increase her yoghurt intake and she'll probably be safe again.

I would like to thank everyone once again, who understood how I have been feeling (and still feel), and especially the two people that I pm'd and were very kind about everything.

Hi Heathcliffe ~

I hope you'll decide to stick around. I'm sorry that some people have been mean-spirited toward you. You don't deserve it.

I read his posting to you here as being 'doing a guy thing' with you.
Ha! Late reading this thread...but once again Lizzy does not disappoint! Lizzy bashes Laurie for her post and lets dear old Vince off the hook. Why? Because he's a guy doing a "guy thing." Oh, the double-standards. Oh, the hypocrisy.

Delightful.

Aha~! But, my notation to young Heathcliffe was that if he's going to go after one, he has to go after the other, and as I said at the time, perhaps, a case of "reverse sexism"? As in, okay to hear a similar thing from a female, but not something from another guy? "A guy thing" can be done by a female, as well. I considered mentioning that, at the time, since the jist was to not be emotional or show emotion, to buck up and deal with it [grow some whiskers] ~ you know, how guys aren't supposed to show emotions. However, I didn't want to put Laurie in pants that she might not want to wear.

Consistency [by Heathcliffe] was my point. It went off track with erroneous interpretation because it happened to be Laurie; and would've had far less of an inflammatory effect, had it been anyone else [unless the someone else's had been Bee or Linda L., and then the same thing would've happened :? ].

This is Lizzy here, Heathcliffe.

Your latest post has triggered two reminders I want to give:

(1) We are equal-opportunity name callers here. If your harsh response to Vince is to stand, then what about Laurie's post to you?

(2) If you think Vince is heartless and rude, check out his response to "dar" in this section, and you'll see that he's anything but . . .

I read his posting to you here as being 'doing a guy thing' with you.

Dearest Lizzy...can't you see that you are practically begging Heathcliffe to attack Laurie....and yet on the other hand...you are completely excusing Vince.

I hope this triggers a response

Young dr. Freud returns
with his worn drum.

Lizzy...begging Heathcliffe to attack Laurie?

Can this be true
children scream
women weep
grown men gasp.

What a carry on.
