Laurie: I didn't think your post to T was off the wall at all. But that's just MHO. Oh, hey, I made a little rhyme.

I have to ask. I must know. I've been seeing NPR all over the place with reference to radio. I have to presume it is an American term or acronym, but I'm not familiar with it. What does it all mean? Thanks to whoever can answer me little question.

Linda.

Dear Linda ~

It's the acronym for National Public Radio ~ it's the public, broadcasting station and is broadcast, via different venues [i.e. through university radio, etc. and local pieces are offered, as well, because of that ~ its paid for via its viewers, through fundraising/contribution drives, held on the radio]. It's public vs. private [corporate owners, beholden to the major, broadcasting network owners]. PRI is the other term you'll here and it stands for Public Radio International. Pieces are done from overseas, via them. The programming is quintessentially better on NPR/PRI than the typical fare of standard radio stations. You can find where on your dial you need to turn by Googling "National Public Radio." You'll be glad you did.

NPR is a little acronym sent to this group by Leonard himself! It stands for "no paints required" and expresses his wish that trolls disappear from this otherwise lovely forum. He suggest either professional psychiatric treatment for those with deep obsessive compulsive disorders, or isolation and quarantine for a minimum of 50 years.

btw I am flying this weekend on holiday to some country, big place, geezer called Bush in charge, colony of England, whatever it's called, see you all week after next, and remember DON'T FEED THE TROLLS

I REFUSE to take the title of this thread as a travel pronouncement  ! Glad to see you headed this way 8) ! :D

The Keys are always reliably more warm than where I live ~ it should be splendid!

ha ha, you are right. my kids are sometimes naughty but never wicked (except in the modern sense which they would all take as a compliment anyway).

Good One Lizzy!

I came in via topic notification and yes, I admit it, sometimes I don't know which thread I'm in. I'm lost. I know not where I am. Now I look up and see what thread I'm in and say Good One Lizzy! Have a nice visit C2. Go see Miami, they'll love you there!

One and the same, perhaps   ?

By the way, if Comment #1 prevails, Comment 2 won't see the light of day, and neither will you for awhile ~ shall we spell "Guantanamo," class  ?

Thanks, Linda  . Since I've been living for awhile, feeling like I have boxes worth of tacks inside my heart, the least I can do is glean some kind of benefit....at least during re-entry phase.
