Re: New Books 2014
I am feeling a tad overwhelmed by the number of books now or soon available about Cohen. I have been disappointed in the past when buying a book that sounded promising so I am giving this some (maybe too much) thought. I don't want amateur photos of him doing laundry (or polishing his shoes!). Leonard Cohen on Leonard Cohen of course sounds appealing although I'm prepared for a large percentage of it being already familiar to me. Leonard Cohen and Philosophy also sounds interesting and hopefully as intellectually stimulating as the writing it originates from. I am ashamed to say that a book in English is a necessary requirement.
I would love it if people who had these books in their hands already would attempt to provide some thoughts, more expansive than "I love it", on them.

Oh me God, so many books almost at the same time! If you want to have and read them all you'll need a salary bonus,
a sabbatical - and new bookshelves!

Re: New Books 2014
IMHO, they are written to cover as large a ground as possible with the intention of touching and interesting a large scale of different fans, with different interests in life - and not for fans to collect and read them all. Though, if it pleases some of them, why not?
It may also bring some fans to develop other interests. Like, for example, me. The book of Sharon Robinson, I would like to see and read it. I always think I was not a lurker who find interest in how artists are doing their laundry
But there is more to this than just curiosity. The photos showed here are beautiful, also. I like the one on the cover.
Also, I find this touching that with his old age, and with the possibilities that he may stop working, all those books may be a mean to prolonge the communication between him and his fans, a way for him to keep speaking softly from a window in the tour of song, to all of them.
That's great to hear about the philosophers.
It is the beginning of my prophety
That he will be the matter and support for many, many books and study in regard of human sciences as well as artistic areas.

T, I should perhaps use more words
and then I would preface my post above by saying how wonderful it is to have such a choice in books about Leonard Cohen, because I am so happy for him that he is getting the attention from fans, journalists and writers of all kinds that he undeniably deserves.
I hope that he and his family are OK with all of this attention (when I read about Adam Cohen having notes tied around rocks thrown on him while he sun bakes on Hydra I pause to think) and I also hope that above all he is given the respect he deserves (therefore my reservations of photos of him in underwear).
Would still like to read forum reviews of these books...

I put the blame on this electronic device for the distortion if you may have read any condamnation from me in regard of your post(s) or yourself. I read only silk from you, personally.
Maybe I should put less words.

I understand and share your concerns, it is a real issue.
But this is what they have chosen for a life, knowing all the good and less good sides of it. Leonard Cohen is famous for such a long time, he proved that he can handle fame better than the average. Adam Cohen was born in that chains. He witnessed how his father managed. He certainly knows how to deal with this. I trust both of them in this regard.

Re: New Books 2014
Hi, recently I purchased Leonard Cohen on Leonard Cohen and "Popular Problems" (vinyl with CD) at Sunrise Records in Toronto. Luckily both were marked down 40% - 50%. Unfortunately, this is because both of the Sunrise Records stores in Toronto are closing (the Bloor/Yonge location may already be closed, and the Yonge/Dundas one is open until Nov. 15). I feel bad for those who work there; many have been employees for years. Kind of a sombre atmosphere, really, as everything must go - vinyl, CDs, DVDs, BluRay, books, jobs.
There are great gems to pick up for anyone in the area.
Leonard Cohen on Leonard Cohen is a goldmine of insights. Loving it.
