I second this Ute!
I really liked Dinos performance on stage and that's why we've almost always chosen the "Dino side" at Leonard's concerts.
But now I'm keen to seeing Leonard with his "new" band!
Can't wait!!!

These are my thoughts too.
I'm also very grateful to Leonard for keeping working to find a new sound to surprise us.
It would have been easy to do exactly the same, just adding some new songs letting us a feeling of "deja vu"

I agree with Wendy, Ute and John...
I too loved Dino's sounds and contributions to the concerts on the last tour but I am very excited to hear this new tour and what it will be.
It is Leonard I am going to hear sing and play and I would go if he was playing alone on a tiny stage anywhere I could.
To me the band is a bonus and in my opinion its totally up to those concerned (Leonard) not us who is in the band at any given time. I welcome and trust that whoever will be there on stage for the concerts will be great.
I am just so grateful Leonard has decided to tour again and consider myself blessed to be able to hear him sing once again!

I totally agree.

I didn't expect another tour.

We are so lucky.
(It wasn't all that long ago we were all assuming Leonard had played his last performance.)

The backing members are a bonus (absolutely awesome) - but I would be just as happy to hear Leonard and a guitar/small keyboard.

Looks like there will be more gypsy music this time, Dino's music didn't make it:

Thanks for the link mirka. Great stuff!! I remember there was quite a strong Greek / Eastern European feel to some of the music on the 1988 tour which I missed in 2008-10. Sounds like we may get a little of this back on the new tour.

It was a shock to read this today !
Dino was a huge presence both musically and as a 'personality ' in 2008-10.

Certainly increases my curiousity about what will be revealed in a week's time in gent.
It will be a differnt kind of perfection !

My first Cohen concert was in 1976 and I visited at least one concert of each of his tours ever since.
The musical style and the band members kept changing during the decades, but the reason I went
to the concerts has always been Mr Cohen.
So I'm looking forward to his new tour and I would even be happy if he appeared on stage alone,
even in a wheelchair, and he would growl some of his songs.
Thank you, Mr Cohen, for all the trouble you take with your new tour. It will be perfect.

I agree with Christiane! Although I'll miss Maestro Dino very much, I'm coming in Barcelona and New York to hear Leonard Cohen. I've enjoyed in his music and his art since I was seventeen (more then 37 years). I'm sure that Leonard will be great on the road as always.
I'm sure that I will be on Dino's concert in the future. Maybe he'll decide to come back in Zagreb, who knows ;-)

:( I was very disappointed to see that Dino is not in the band this time, although like everyone else, I am looking forward to finding out the changes Leonard has made. However, off the back of this and some links from other members, I found out that Dino Soldo released an album of his own stuff in July and it is completely different to what I expected. Worth having a listen.

Interestingly Leonard is not mentioned at all on Dino's official web site although all the other artists he has performed with get a mention and often a photo. Even the late great Johnny Guitar Watson gets a mention. Seems a bit odd considering he worked with LC for 3 years.
I think it's exciting that the line up for the 2012 shows has changed. I think we are in for a real change of sound now. :D

1000-kissesdeep, firstly welcome to the forum!
...and secondly if you look a bit further down the page the title of this thread is listed on, your questions will be answered :)

To save you the trouble, here's a direct link to MEET THE BAND (now with the exception of Dino) for you to click on.
