Hi LadyDi
Thanks for getting this thread going again! I am looking forward to the event so much that I was getting disappointed the thread was going dormant and was looking for ways to kickstart it! I am coming from Ireland and never heard of this opportunity with the will-call tickets, it sounds great! Now I am getting even more excited - this on top of my long-time wish to stay at the Chelsea (once my dream of seeing LC in concert was fulfilled last year). I would so love to meet Sharon Robinson... she's the next best thing to Leonard for me...
Great decision to go to the concert. I toyed with the idea a lot myself but then decided to put it on the plastic. Would be so temped by Las Vegas either..... but that would definitely send me in the red..

Hi Trish!

Well..I am soooo in the red but will address all that later! It will be so cool to meet you. I did encounter a bit of the Irish contingent back last February after the concert at the Beacon...but they were all guys. Since then I've come to know burningviolin and IrishMar.....the "women's side"! I really don't think there is anything like an Irish fan! All of you are awesome!

Sharon is so sweet and accomodating...plus an amazing talent. Hopefully we can all speak with her, and the other band members during the early admittance! Other band members...how easily that rolls off....hells bells, Dino, Roscoe, Raf, Javier, Bob, Neil.....whew...they are all SO awesome, sexy, sophisticated, talented. Oh yes, a meet-up will be VERY nice!

Looking forward to seeing you at the Chelsea (so cool that you are staying there!)...and the concert!

Diana

ps...keep checking out Las Vegas. As we get closer to the date I think some really really great seats will open up! It's only money....this is your soul.

Thanks LadyDi..

Unfortunately I've got the flights to pay for too. But I'm in a Carpe Diem mood at the moment when it comes to LC. I spent too many years fretting about the fact that I would never ever get to see him.. so I have no qualms about embracing as many concerts as I can. As a good friend of mine says "You only regret the things you don't do" :)

Do you think more good tickets will open up for MSG also? I haven't got mine yet as was unsure of whether I'd be buying 1 or 2. All that's available now is sector 221 (it keeps coming up - grr! Will try again tomorrow).

Yes the Chelsea will be great! Look forward to meeting you too!

Hi Trish,

I've been checking MSG for the past several weeks. I knew I would never get my favourite seats in the first 1 through 3 rows as I'd left it too late. Couldn't afford those horrible Diamond VIP seats (who the heck is going to buy those?!). The $50. seats were long gone. Wow...we have some $29.50 seats! Nose bleed section....probably couldn't even see the screens! Then bingo....2 seats in the loge...section 95 which is sort of dead centre and a little to the right. Whoa...where did these come from! Not what I would normally snag but perfect for me and my friend! These were 124.50 each. As of a couple of days ago they still had a couple of seats at that category available but I think more to the side and right. However, I think seats will continue to open up in the next month. Keep checking every day.

ps...and remember to check Vegas! There are a LOT of us very very devoted, er maybe a little nutso, fans with tickets to Vegas!

The bar has been officially raised:

from now on, you have to go to ten (10) LC concerts to officially be "crazy"

at twenty (20), you are officially declared "insane"

at thirty (30), we all come to put you away (and make off with all the LC memorabilia you have stashed) 8)  :D

it is only coincidental, by the way, that at the moment my grand total looks like it will be nine (9)

(in case you are wondering, Leonard has appointed me his official "nut counter", as a complement to the band's drummer/timekeeper :D   ;-)

Well, whew...I am NOT nuts! There will only be a total of 8 concerts! I am absolved. It's all my friends who are nuts!

ah, sorry Mary..Bob..and most definitely, Bonnie!

of course...we still don't know the Concert dates for 2010.... ;-)

It is an honour to know you "nutso" people and I look forward to hearing details and I mean details about the Chelsea Hotel reception and plaque ceremony,
New York concert and Barcelona birthday celebrations and concerts when we all meet up in Las Vegas. As Diana said that is where the real 'nutso' creative
wild and wonderful sides of our persona will let loose- that is going to be one heck of a concert! ;-)

For anyone going to MSG and considering Philly the night before, some great seats have opened up in the Spectrum....

And by great seats, I mean 2nd row, centre!

Thanks to MaryB for this and her post on seats opening up in Columbus... it got me thinking...

I too will be going to the plaque dedication and the concert. I live in central nj and took the train into nyc yesterday; went to the chelsea hotel and contemplated getting a reservation and after a half an hour in the lobby decided why not. My problem is that I'm going by myself - couldn't get any of my friends to go to the concert with me. My friend who went with me to many LC concerts over the years passed away two years ago and none of my other friends wanted to spend the $$. I remember seeing Leonard at the Main Point in Philly, a small cafe where we sat at school desks and he was feet away. Saw him there several times in the early 70's. I've been a lurker off and on for years here - but have loved Leonard's music since late 60's-early 70's. Met him on the street before his Future concert in Glenside PA where he autographed stuff for fans -he autographed the Future cd and 2 of his poetry books as well as beautiful losers book which I will treasure forever. So, I'm hoping there will be a group going from the hotel to the concert (or maybe to dinner first?). Are there any plans? Lorraine aka malteseowner (maltmom)

Hi Lorraine,
I don't think there are concrete plans at this point, but I imagined that people would go together to MSG, perhaps get something to eat along the way, after the plaque ceremony. My daughter and I will need to pick up our will call tickets, and I think there will probably be quite a few of us there with will call tickets. I am not a great social event organizer, but perhaps someone else will put something in place ahead of time?
See you there,
Sue

Hi maltmom,

On the 23rd I'm flying into Newark to meet up with a friend of mine who also lives in NJ. Will drop my bag off at her house and then we are taking the train into Penn Station and will be at the Chelsea for 2pm! Looking forward SO much to the ceremony! We are also going to the concert. Hmm, that sounded so blase. Actually, we are going to the concert!!!!!! :D :D As Sue mentioned, I'm sure a number of us will be going from the Chelsea to MSG together. The Chelsea will actually be an opportunity for a meet-up, but perhaps we could hook up with a few others unable to attend the ceremony prior to the concert. I'm sure as the date gets closer we'll have some more suggestions.

thanks for the replies. I am just so excited to be going to both. The Hotel Chelsea is just so cool - at least from what I saw from the lobby. And to meet Leonard's sister and manager WOW!! Thank you Dick and Jarkko and others responsible. It truly will be a memorable night. I checked ticketmaster last night and they actually had two tickets in row A section 2 (the diamond vip tickets) - don't know if I have enough on my plastic left but I'd be willing to sell my 1 ticket in row 13 and split row A tickets. So glad to hear LC is doing ok after his bout with food poisoning. Lorraine
