Heres a few more who came out in the cold to perform for free, for love of their art, for the benefit of their audience, for the need to communicate.

Jarkko,

I'm glad that despite some unhappy fans venting and the difficulties with the tickets, that at very least, if this is in fact his last tour, that he got to see just how much his work is appreciated and how much it means to so many people.

I'm glad we surprised him. :-)

This is precisely what I was thinking, too.

Hi Jarkko,
We travel from Europe to the US for vacation in July and would like to see one more concert. (Can't get enough....). Any in July?

BTW When will the tour dates be announced?

It would nice if one of they many concerts in New York were a lot less expensive and more public. Like in a park and a relaxed atmosphere prevailed.

Drsing: The tour dates for US/Canada will not be announced in the near future, so I am afraid we all have to wait (did I hear someone say "patiently"?).
My feeling (but not knowledge) is that the US/Canadian leg will end before July, but this remains to be seen!

Jarkko,

Just out of curiosity, are we going to receive email alerts regarding the upcoming US/Canada tour? I signed up for this on the website, but did not receive any alert regarding the Beacon show. I understand that this is a special event, and I am wondering if I can expect an email or just keep checking this forum.

Thanks

We don't have any alarm system at all, nor mailing list, so the only way to get the news is to have a look at the front page of http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com on a regular basis. The same news will also posted here on the Forum.

Thanks for the fast reply, Jarkko. I signed up on the homepage with the assumption that I was going to get tour information. I wouldn't presume to tell anybody how to run their website, but you may want to pass this along to the webmaster as a head's up to avoid any confusion.

Dear Friends... Ticketmaster should be brought up on charges to whomever regulates this... their company Ticketsnow - (a ticketmaster company) is selling third row tix for over $1,2000 each... and though they say they have 80 tickets (at various inflated prices) i'm sure they kept all the tix and are selling them off at these prices... perhaps the only fans who will get to see our Leonard... are the ones who got into the presale... i don't know anyone who was able to get through ticketmaster when the balance were to go online...
ridiculous? UNJUST... and so unlike what our zen poet would have envisioned for this first concert in 15 years!

Unfortunately, ticket scalping is legal in New York, so those tickets are worth what people will pay for them. There are no charges to be brought against Ticket Snow. We will see who will pay for those expensive seats. Maybe we can interview at them concert.

I think it's quite possible Ticketmaster returns tickets unsold by Ticketsnow to the regular pool, and sells them a couple of days before the concert at the nominal price. This would explain better seats showing up for sale at Ticketmaster 1-2 weeks before the concert.

Mirka and Lightning are right. Ticketmaster appeared to skim off the best tickets at previous British and European concerts then tried selling them at inflated prices through their other companies. A lot were then released at the last minute at face value.

The only way way to beat this is to ignore the hype, don't pay over the odds, be patient if you can so you don't feed Ticketmasters greed. They have to try to sell unsold tickets before the concert.
And it looks like there will be other concerts coming up.

There i was propped at my computer and trying to get tix waaaay before they went on sale at 9 am so i was in gear. This was the concert i'd been waiting for for 20 years. Can anyone tell me how it is that Ticketmaster has no tickets to sell even at 9 a.m. when they went on sale, but right there on the page that tells you they have no tickets left, they offer you scalped tickets from their own Ticketmaster scalping company!!??? Have they sold them to themselves?? Are they providing a venue for the scalpers to sell tickets? How can this be okay? I thought that scalping was illegal but it doesn't seem you can ever get tix for any show that aren't offered by the scalpers who have LOTS of tickets to sell you. I have to wonder if our amazing poet is aware of this and if he wouldn't be intrested in another way like Tom Waits who makes you pick up your own tix at the Beacon so they can't be scalped. It's sad tat this isn't really a concert for the fans which it's ironically called. Sorry for the sour grapes. I'm actually really sad.

Hi all,

I have reported Ticketmaster to the Better Business Bureau...I am a New Yorker so don't quite understand how scalping can be legal. They should be reported anyway. A lot of these tickets went to the brokers BEFORE they were sold old. If it's legal the law needs to be changed. There are many New York long time Cohen fans who are not rich...far from it. And many of us who can't get to concerts and should be able to. IT IS RIDICULOUS.
