Well, Ania, not to worry about the window, anyway! I, in fact, distinctly remember you saying [upon inquiries] that you were definitely not going to try to look Leonard up on your trip to L.A. ~ that if he wanted to meet you, he could look you up  !

So, there won't be anyone singing, "She came in through the bathroom window....." ~ lala lala la ~ and you can just concern yourself with getting yourself together on those drugs. No sudden-weight-loss programs in les gypsy cards for you :) !

I'm sorry to hear that painkillers are happening in your life. I'll check into where Joe Henry and Henry Rollins are, and see what I can do ~ aren't they blues guys? Maybe I should start with New Orleans or Alabama. Sounds like you may be ending up with a jam session. You might wanna pack your tambourine, Ania :D .

~ Lizzy :D [I'm workin' on it, I'm workin' on it  ~ but you keep up'ing the ante ~ this may take awhile :? ~ but we'll get there 8) , I think :? ! Please keep in mind that you may have to settle for just Tom   .]

Hi Rock Rose and TC ~

How are you both? Just wanted to let you know [rather late, as I've had the cd at least a couple weeks now ~ or did I already? This is feeling rather familiar, now that I'm starting to type it :? ] that the song by Nick Cave on "Winged Migration" is "To Be By Your Side" ~ I'm sure I've commented on his voice, elsewhere. If not, I'll do it after you tell me one way or the other  .

At any rate, last week, I checked with my record-store guy and he has NO Nick Cave ["We just don't get much call for him here" ~ need I say more about the area in which I'm living  ?]. However, I happened to stop in at another record store in the area, at the beginning of this week, and they had some compilation of his. It's located closer to where I work, so when she offered to check the computers for the ones you two recommended, I said fine. I've now ordered "The Boatman's Call," as there was another one with a title so similar to "Let Love In," that I couldn't remember which it was you'd recommended, T.C. ~ so I went with Boatman's Call. A blessing in its way ~ no big decision to make :) . If his voice is anything of the bittersweet, vulnerable yet, with a quiet strength ~ and his lyrics as sensitively loving ~ that I'm listening to on Winged Migration, I'll be happy. I'll get "Let Love In," no matter what, just to compare your two favourites, as I'm sure there will be ones on each that I really like.

Thanks for your recommendations.

Love,
Lizzy

Hi All:

I had written a long reply but I guess I took too long when I clicked on submit I found I was logged out. And the reply went into oblivion. :x Does anyone know where oblivion is?? Ah well, it (the reply) will never come back. :x :x :x

Hi Biraj ~

I've had many problems negotiating the computer. It seems like this may be one of the things that is addressable, though I'm not sure because it's been so long since I've gotten kicked off the Net on a regular basis.

One thing that I learned to do [got in the habit of] was Copying my entire posting before I clicked on Submit. Then, if it revealed me to be offline [as I hadn't yet gotten used to looking at the bottom, to make sure I was stlll connected, before I clicked on Submit], I could just get back on, and click on Reply ~ and then Paste what I'd just written and Copied. This habit turned out to be a lifesaver for me.

The other thing that may or may not work is clicking on the Back arrow to get your message [itself] back and then minimizing it; then get back on the Net, and then Submit it again.

This last one I'm not at all sure on. But if you forget to Copy first, then this one is at least worth a try! If it happens, and you do it, let me know if it worked. Vice versa, I'll let you know. It helps to put a little post-it note to "Copy postings before Submit" until you get in the habit.

These are measures for if you get kicked off frequently ~ for me, it became a survival mechanism. Now, I rarely get kicked off.

Hi Elizabeth:

You are kind....thank you. Yes, I tried everything you said (for once I can say that...lol) but the pasting which has been a lifesaver for me countless times did not work because just as I was wrapping up the post I had copied and pasted a sentence. So the the copy feature was depleted of the entire posting. The back feature generally works on the internet but here on the forum when I went back it was blank. I tried quite a few times actually. But there was nothing. I was upset at the time but am over it now :). I will come up with the posting a little later on in the day.

But I liked your idea of the post-it note of "Copying Before Submitting", I will use that idea.

Thanks again,

Best,

Biraj

Hi Lizzy :D

Hope all is well with you and that things are 8) as they are with me. I am pleased that you have managed to track down a CD of Nicks. Yep, it was I that recommended The Boatman's Call to you so I am glad that you ordered that one. I'll be interested to hear what you think of it. Perhaps you remember when I directed you to his website and told you that you could play some of his videos and then found that they had taken of that facility? :( :x Wellllll, I was in town last week and found a whole video of his Best of...... CD :D :D Haven't actually watched it yet as I am getting it as a present tomorrow! I'm sure I will be playing it a lot though.
I was watching an old episode of the X Files a few days ago (just by accident really) and one of Nick's tracks got played. I thought he was very popular in the US of A. You will have to educate that record store guy Lizzy

Have you ever heard of Steve Forbert? I have an old LP of his Alive On Arrival and had pretty much forgotten all about him until travelling to work this week a track of his was played on the car radio. I had forgotten that I liked him so much. On returning home I immediately got out the LP and am really enjoying rediscovering it. Looked the man up on google and was delighted to see that he is still making music.

Cheers

Hi Rock Rose ~

Yes, I'm doing well, thank you :D ~ and glad you are, too 8) ! Yeah, that record store is considered to be the "coolest one in town," and the owner-brothers are. Two of the three staff in the other store acted clueless as to who he was, and the third, who brought me the compilation seemed to not know much, as well ~ and I wasn't sure if her "Do you mean 'Nick Cave and the Bad Seed'?" was a recitation of what she was looking at, already being in that section, or if it indicated some degree of recognition. Wouldn't she have already known it was one and the same, if she already knew who he was :? ?

I'm looking forward to listening to the cd :D !

Wasn't Steve Forbert just mentioned very recently elsewhere on the Forum? It's hard to know when you're not really sure who these people are to begin with.......as you can tell, that answers your question to me on it, as well  .

Oh yes, I'll definitely let you know what I think. Same with TC when I get the one recommended by him[?]. I'll be making a trip to the video store today to see if Eminem's "8 Mile" is still there, and to see if "Winged Migration" is there yet. Boy, talk about contrast   ! Let me know how your gift turns out.....I'm curious as to how he acts in videos.

Hi Biraj ~ I sure understand your frustration   ! Been there, done that.....too many times  ~ including personal ones to people, that held much meaning for me. I'm glad at least one suggestion might be able to help you :D .

Hi Elizabeth:

You will be happy to know that your suggestion has already helped me once. I caught myself in the nick of time, before clicking on submit. And then realized that I had been logged out.

Feelings and words are very important to me and those that go into oblivion well they are gone.

On another topic, Elizabeth are you or is anyone else crazy about "Seinfeld", I am.

Best,

Biraj

Oh, that's wonderful, Biraj! I can't tell you how many times that happened to me, the realization coming after the Submit  ! Exactly, on the words and feelings ~ with me, too. I lost any number of lengthy e-mails during that original time period, before I figured out the copy technique. It would be so disheartening, that I could barely bring myself to try to repeat it all. It was like someone had punched me in the stomach to even think of trying to reconstruct it all. I'm sooooo glad to hear that it's helping to save you that grief  !

If you're speaking of the sitcom, Seinfeld, when I watched TV, I always tried to watch it. I enjoyed it immensely.
