It somehow counts I guess.

It's definitely in the Live in London release & I think it's in Songs From The Road. I don't remember for sure if it's in Live in Dublin. I'll check it out sometime soon & let you know. I agree that it should countHartmut wrote:
Do you happen to know whether he used that line in one of the official releases of live recordings?
I suddenly remembered (& also listened to it to make sure) that in Songs From The Road, Leonard sings the "don't cry no more. . ." verse instead of the "beggar. . .crutch" verse, so he does not sing his name in that one; (& thank goodness we have an official live recording of the song with that verse in it!) And Leonard most definitely sings his name in the Live in Dublin release (as well as the Live in London release). So there's your answer, HarmutHartmut wrote:

Oh, yes!holydove wrote: Leonard sings the "don't cry no more. . ." verse [...] (& thank goodness we have an official live recording of the song with that verse in it!)
Thank you again!holydove wrote: And Leonard most definitely sings his name in the Live in Dublin release (as well as the Live in London release). So there's your answer, Harmut.
Yes, that occurred to me, that it wouldn't apply because he wasn't referring to himself; so I agree that it shouldn't count. . .but thank you for being so appreciative - you are so kind. . .& so polite!Hartmut wrote:
But I don't think he was referring to himself by the word 'silence'. So I don't think that really counts.
Yes, exactly.holydove wrote:I remembered that Leonard sings his name (first & last name) in an improvised song in the BOTW documentary. Is that what you have in mind, Hartmut?
Just for the record (& for the sake of accuracy):Hartmut wrote:
'Mr. Cohen Must Be Going'.
Oh, ok. Very interesting. Thank you. I had forgotten about that. Or maybe I never knew about it ... But that's great, now we have one more song for the list. That's what I was hoping for when I asked the question: That the lot of us can come up with more songs than I alone.holydove wrote: Just for the record (& for the sake of accuracy):
The improvised song I was referring to, that is recorded in Tony Palmer's "Bird On A Wire" film, is the "Broken-Down Nightingale" song, which begins: "Leonard Cohen is going to sing a song of anguish & despair. . ."
Hm ... I think it should count. Not just because I say so now.holydove wrote:The song "Mr. Cohen Must Be Going" is an improv from a concert in Paris in 1974; it's not on any officially released recording, so I think that means it wouldn't count for the purpose of this list. . .(?)
Your saying so would be enough for me! But it's very dutiful of you to back up your determination with logical & valid cause. So that's settled - it countsHartmut wrote:
