Interesting. Thanks.

'A Street' also started out as a poem - published in the 'New Yorker'.

Thanks for that info Hartmut, I've added it below.
@ Roman, I know you love lists ;-) so here's one for you if you don't already have it!
And just in case anyone else is curious this list below is somewhere here on the forum and I’ve added the last sentence relating to Blue Alert 2006 and the last section relating to Old Ideas 2012 and Popular Problems 2013.

Songs Of Leonard Cohen (1967):
‘Suzanne’ – was published as a poem ‘Suzanne Takes You Down’ in Parasites Of Heaven (1966)
‘Master Song’ – ‘I Believe You Hear Your Master Sing’ from Parasites Of Heaven (1966)
‘Teachers’ – poem ‘I Met A Woman Long Ago’ from Parasites Of Heaven (1966)

Songs From A Room (1969):
‘A Bunch of Lonesome Heroes’ – 3rd verse of this song appeared as the 2nd verse of ‘Who Will Finally Say’ in Selected Poems 1956–1968

Songs Of Love And Hate (1971):
‘Avalanche’ – published as ‘I Stepped Into An Avalanche’ from Parasites Of Heaven (1966)

Live Songs (1973):
‘Queen Victoria’ – is a poem ‘Queen Victoria And Me’ from Flowers For Hitler

New Skin For The Old Ceremony (1974):
‘Is This What You Wanted’ – chorus of this song has been taken from ‘Poem #31’ in The Energy Of Slaves (1972)

Death Of A Ladies’ Man (1977):
‘True Love Leaves No Traces’ – 2 verses from a 1961 poem ‘As Mist Leaves No Scar’ (Spice-Box Of Earth)
‘I Left A Woman Waiting’ – First 2 verses were taken from ‘Poem #27’ in The Energy Of Slaves
‘Fingerprints’ – ‘Give Me Back My Fingerprints’ (1966) in Parasites Of Heaven
‘Death Of A Ladies’ Man’ – is published 1 year later (1978) as ‘Death Of A Lady’s Man’ in book of poetry of same title

Recent Songs (1979):
‘Our Lady of Solitude’ – longer adaptation, with new verses, of the poem ‘All Summer Long’ which appeared in Death Of A Lady’s Man (1978)

Various Positions (1984):
The Captain – recited as a poem during 1985 tour.

The Future (1993):
‘Democracy’ – composed from about 80 verses. Recited as a poem with some of them on many occasions.

More Best Of (1997):
The Great Event included as piece of prose in 2006's Book of Longing.

Ten New Songs (2001)
‘In My Secret Life’ – somewhat different first verse recited in 1988, at least 2 times
‘A Thousand Kisses Deep’ – published as a much longer poem at The Blackening Pages and there are other variations.

Ten New Songs (2001):
Book of Longing (2006) includes Alexandra Leaving, A Thousand Kisses Deep, Boogie Street, By The Rivers Dark, Here It Is, Love Itself, You Have Loved Enough, the actual album lyrics

Dear Heather (2004):
Spice-Box Of Earth (1961) To A Teacher.
Book of Longing (2006) includes Because Of (A Few Songs), Nightingale, The Letters, The Faith, There For You, the actual album lyrics

Blue Alert (2006), by Anjani:
includes The Mist, which is As The Mist Leaves No Scar set to music (different from Phil Spector's version known as "True Love Leaves No Traces). According to video interview at Sony site, Anjani bumped into the poem in Stranger Music, unaware that Cohen and Spector already adapted this poem to music. Her version uses original poem's verses, without additional verses Leonard wrote for Spector's version. The song Half The Perfect World is a poem "Half The World" from Book of Longing 2006.

Old Ideas 2012
(Poems & Songs 2011) Amen

Popular Problems 2013
Nevermind (Book of Longing 2006)
A Street - recited live in 2006, according to Leonard in an interview and it was published in 2009 in The New Yorker http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2009/03/02/a-street
(the song lyrics were published in April 2011 by Everyman's Library Pocket Poets titled "Leonard Cohen - Poems and Songs")

Another addition: 'Amen' was published in the book 'Poems and Songs' in 2011 before it appeared on the Album 'Old Ideas' in 2012.

Thanks Hartmut, I'll add it to the above list. Interestingly, it seems the following songs were all published as poems in Poems&Songs 2011 but were sung first as songs. I don't have the book but maybe they were published as song lyrics. They were performed first in concert as follows: The Darkness, August 2009 at Venice at the sound check ~ Lullaby, in 2009 at Grand Prairie ~ Feels So Good October 29, 2009 at Chicago ~ Born in Chains at Salzburg July 27, 2010.
His most recent book, Poems and Songs (2011), features a number of unpublished poems, three of which are featured below.
Amen, Darkness and Lullaby
and
And a follow up post -
http://www.scottishreviewofbooks.org/in another two new poems by Leonard Cohen - Feels So Good & Born In Chains
If you or anyone can think of any additions or amendments to the list above please let me know and I'll add or change them.
(I've edited the above list so many times I'm truly dizzy!)

Hi,

Please name a song other than "Famous Blue Raincoat" where content makes it reasonable to
presume that a character may have problems falling asleep.

Hi,

Gentle Reader is correct with "Store Room." B4real is correct with "One Of Us Cannot Be Wrong"
and "I'm Your Man." "I'm Your Man" is the song that prompted the question.

Gentle Reader or B4real, please post a question if you like.

Hi,

Someone tells you that he or she decided to take up journal writing despite a lack of current
purpose in life. The decision was prompted by a lyric line. Please name the song that is a
likely candidate for containing the line.

I suspect it's 'Famous Blue Raincoat' again.

And the line in question:
'You're living for nothing now, I hope you're keeping some kind of record.'

Hi Hartmut,

Your suspicion is correct and the line you identified is one of my favorites. :)

The whole song is kinda cool. :-)

Here's an easy one: Please name two songs with a Kris Kristofferson connection.
