They say better late then never..
As if returning to real life from such a weekend isn't hard enough for anyone, came down with a nasty ear/throat infection, spent an entire week at home and then catching up at work was just crazy...
So here I go:
All there’s to say about how magical Sligo weekend was has been said. None of the descriptions were exaggerated. It was everything that was written and more.
Such experiences are measured by the memories they leave in you long after they’re over. So an upside of writing this late is being able to attest that Sligo has been so unique, it is still a vivid memory, even when real life have taken over.
I feel very fortunate to have been part of this weekend. It was such a pleasure to meet so many Forum friends, old and new, put faces to names, deepen acquaintances, and make new ones.
Every last word that was written and said about Irish hospitality was accurate. Warm, hugging and ever smiling. The atmosphere in the air hanging over Lissadell was electrifying, with an ever sense that the best is yet to come. A lot of it had to do with the deep meaning Lissadell has for LC – you could see how elated he was – his expression was picture perfect of happiness and also the crowd, in continuous sing along and cheering. It made one forget it was cold, rainy, muddy and quite a hassle to get in and especially out if you were to use the busses services. All you wanted is that these nights would last forever, carried on these tide of divine energy, where fatigue doesn’t exist and you can almost believe that there’s nothing else on this planet, but this tiny universe that was wrapping the stage of magic.
"Born in Chains" blew me away in ways words can't describe. This song entered the smallest of chambers in my soul. It has such deep meaning to Jewish people's heritage that goes to these very days and could feel that it had a lot to do with the time LC couldn't find his voice.
One of the highlights of this weekend was having with me Sharon, my good friend from London. Watching her go through her very first LC concert was a real treat. It was like watching one of these National Geographic clips where they show a flower unfold from bud to full blossom. When I returned from Sligo to her place in London and opened up the computer to watch Albert’s vids, she has already looked them up and knew their order…
Per her request, I post a small note on her behalf:
"To the fantastic forum people from Sligo- Albert and Marie, Mary and George, Diana, Leslie and Maarten - thank you for an unforgettable weekend and such a warm welcome to the group. Between you guys and the concert, I was swept off my feet. Much love, Sharon DN (aka the other Sharon)"
So thank you Albert for your mastery of videography. It was the first time I saw you in action up close and personal.. And hats off to you, especially when I saw that you give up sleep time and morning out and about time so that forum members who were not present at the concert could enjoy pieces of it as fast as possible. This isn’t taken for granted!!
And also thanks FanforLife for your great vids
Thanks Maarten for your beautiful nametags and for the friendship. You’re so very special
Thanks Bernadine for your wonderful photos – they truly capture our joy and multiple layers…
Goddess of good fortune arranged for me to sit right next to Clo and Merton both nights and that just made things even more perfect. Thank you for great company and cheerfulness!!
Thanks everyone I met and was part of this weekend. Thanks to ones I had a chance to have long chats and get to know you better and thanks to all the others I crossed paths with but didn’t have a chance to chat with – I look forward to doing it on the next occasion. And if I forgot someone – apologies, it’s only cause it’s 1:10am and I’ve been up since 6am…

(Can’t compete with Maarten’s and others prowess, but they’re what I took

and if for some reason you can't watch them, let me know and I'll post them here)
See you soon somewhere on the globe,
Sunny greetings from Tel Aviv,
--Sharon
