Well, I was walking down Toronto's Queen Street West in the hot sun yesterday afternoon when I came Across a sidewalk painter. He noticed my unified hearts pendant ( a beautiful gift from lovely Judy on Hydra this June). I asked him to include it in his next design. He said : "I always do," sweeping his arms wide so I noticed what he was painting: He told me he loves The music of Leonard Cohen, but believes the unified heart image originated with Jesus and Mary Magdalene, and that it is a symbol of the Holy Grail.... The caption at the bottom of his painting says" Sometimes things catch your eye, but pursue only those that capture your heart" ( or similar...)

my brother doesn't like Leonard Cohen and I am personally responsible for ruining every last chance he had of enjoying Leonard's music, by forcing him to listen to it 24/7 for quite a while..

but I bought the little black songbook last week and I visited my brother today and I showed it to him...and at the end of our evening I asked him to play So Long, Marianne, expecting he would refuse.
he agreed to play it and answered to my surprised face by saying "I like this song - why wouldn't I?"
so he played it and I sang and I gave him a big hug at the end and it all made me so happy..

I went back to Toronto a week and later and found the finished painting:

I met someone called Jihan recently. He didn't understand why I smiled. (He wasn't that silent either).

Enjoying leonard's Birthday being marked on Alf McCarthy's "Late Date" on RTE radio just now after midnight on September 21 st. with "Coming Back to You", "Everybody Knows", and more to come!

At Bloor & Yonge subway station in rush hour: a Salvadoran busker playing Hallelujah on guitar-- an extended version, sometimes solo, sometimes sung. I was transfixed--even forgot to snap his picture ( though I did drop money in his hat...)
And I remember his name: Daniel Huezo...
