I enjoy a little 'group' therapy: :wink:

a collection of hoarders;

a pack of smokers;

a circle of geometricians;

a bunch of vignerons; and

an assembly of production line workers.

Cheers
Andrew (Darby) :)

a murder of krauts

a squad of pushers (maybe these agents really "enforce" drugs...)

a company of deserters

a plague of healers

and i prefer "a pack of non-smokers"

Dear all,
What an imaginative collection of "collective nouns"!
There are many accolades to be awarded: tom, John, Andrew, linmag, Byron, partisan, witty-owl, Pete, to mention a few.
Mazeltov, but can return to my "homework" question....."a murder of crows"?
I've thought long and hard about this one: after all, it would be nice to win the prize in the competition I'd devised in the first place :) .
There is a reference to crows in Shakespeare's "MacBeth", as Duncan's soldiers are advancing. Lady MacBeth makes the remark .
The other possibility is the Scots ballad "The Twa Corbies", about which I'll say more later.
Andrew.

Hi,
I was reading the exchanges between Andrew, Linmag and one post of JTS regarding the timing of occurence of Andrew's and Linmag's posts about "a murder of crows". The investigations of two parallel themes (i.e., timing of posts and origin of murder of crows) somehow reninded me of a good Hercule Poirot murder mystery. So when did this murder of crows occur exactly ? Sometime between 10.41 pm and 11.01 pm ?? :D
And who was the original perpetrator of the crime ? Did one of you murder what was by then already dead corpses ??

Dear Pete, Byron, Kush et al,
Re the timing of the "murder" ( between 10 41p.m. and 11 01p.m.), I have an alibi : I was telling my son a bed-time story, MacBeth, (the kiddies love it!) and Linmag tells me she was reading her book on origami. Personally, I prefer my alibi to hers, although my son is only 6.
This case will exercise the mind of a super-sleuth. 8) .
More clues may be revealed soon, but I'd advise you all to read a book on origami :wink:
Yours,
Andrew.
P.S. I refered to the Scots ballad "The Twa Corbies". I forgot to mention that "corbie" is the Scots word for "crow".
Crows have been associated with death (or impending death) in literature for centuries.
