one summer
on Hydra, I shall dress
a burlesque poem
in a wig
and a red brazier,
but I shall keep
her slip hidden.

Ha! Won't M_One be pleased, I hope. A coupla small changes...
one summer
on Hydra, I shall dress
a burlesque poem
in a wig
with a red brazier,
but I shall keep
her slip hidden
lest it be found

In the words of little Lily Allen, it makes me smile, yeh it makes me smile.
Can we keep the 'as' and maybe discard one article of clothing (after all it is burlesque)?
one summer
on Hydra, I shall dress
as a burlesque poem
in a wig
and red brassiere
Any more suggestions, takers or voters?

Isn't a brazier something to roast chestnuts on? This is essentially a summer poem, I think, so allusions to Christmas and ice skating and dressing up as Santa (tho I can see how that echoes the red of the bra) might be a bit out of place. I think I was too hasty with my voting request. We need to work some more on this. Hopefully M_O is tied up at the moment and hasn't realised yet that it is the end of summer, so we might have a day or two to polish this up.

Damellon, you are indefatigable! I assumed brazier was an example of confusing American spelling. Is your summer so close to being over? I was enjoying it so much.

Don't panic - but something very weird has happened overnight. Look at the photo again.........who is that standing in the doorway? Is it the poet's Nemesis?
Is it a pistachio vendor from Hydra? Whoever it is looks (dare I say it) naked. Was he there last night? I usually have a good eye for a naked man standing in a doorway (tho not in Hydra because I haven't been there yet.......am tempted now) but I missed him yesterday. Christine you didn't swop photos overnight, did you? This is not the second in a series is it? There isn't a movie lurking there? This changes everything. Gone is the solitary yearning. Maybe there's a love poem here. Maybe there's a shortage of clothes so they have to take turns getting dressed. I'm overwhelmed with the possibilities. I have to go and lie down.

Yep BM, 'as' befits (is that a word) the complexity of M_One's very simple yet filled with promise poem, so that's a big fat 'aye' here, Damellon. I know I was a staunch advocate of adding 'wig' but no no, I was wrong. I think we need to stop early. Maybe even suddenly.
"one summer

For me it's done. Damellon, you have my aye but damn, it hurts. Can you please put it back in my socket when you're done.
Team Poetesses-- let's not forget where we started.... "later this summer I will write a poem." I second my eye.

But Christine - have you had a moment to consider the implications of the ghostly figure in the doorway? Does this not change everything? I'm troubled now. I fear we may have gone for the obvious and missed the underlying meaning. I don't know........ In the meantime, I have a naked man of my own, standing in the doorway, so I have to go....

Bugger, who is the naked nut in the background. No, no I didn't swap it. It's like the Invasion of the Forum Snatcher movie all over again.
I don't wanna take turns gettin' dressed. Bagsey, I'm last.

I have seen the naked man too damellon, he appears to be taking the photo, will someone own up to being he? Should we substitute 'we' for 'I'? That would open us up to all sorts of possibilities and more fun. There is something lonely and desperate about doing such things without company, isn't there?

No Blonde Madonna he couldn't be taking the photo because he's striking a pose --- look, one hand on the door jamb. Anyway if he's not taking the photo then there's a third person/man in the room actually taking the photo. That makes it three in the room. Definitely this changes everything. Now we have a troika. Back to the Russian winter imagery.......damn. Got to go to breakfast. Will ruminate.

Girls, what if? I mean, what if mickey_one didn't actually mean to write a poem yet? Can we then claim this Work as our own?
Hey, I'm all good to go on the Russian front but could he really have actually possibly meant that maybe, just maybe, later this year, naked or not, dressed in frilly underwear and red brazier or not, he will write a poem? Frivolous of me, I know, but......

I think that if we were to claim the poem as our own we would have to look at how much of the original remains ---- summer -I - a - poem Do you think we might infringe copyright? Has Mickey_One or anyone else in that room asserted his moral right etc. ? We might need to take advice on this one. Does International Law govern this site? Finnish? The country of Mickey_One? Of course there may be a long way to go yet with this complex multi-layered piece. We could mention M_One? on the dedication page, would that be enough?

Another thought ---maybe Mickey_One posted this to the wrong Forum altogether.......and the words are a code and together with the picture belong to another sort of site altogether..OMG!!!
