Tomorrow...Apr 25th is the 50th anniversary of the discovery of DNA structure. (Nature paper 1953 by Crick, Watson and Wilkins). Also to the uncredited Rosalind Franklin - 'The Dark Lady of DNA'.
It ranks with Newton's and Einstein's theories as the 3 great ideas that have shaped the modern world. The falling apple, E=m.c-square and the helical ladder.

Kush,
You're right to remind us of the 50th anniversary of Crick and Watson's construction of a molecular model of the complex genetic material deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). They, together with Wilkins, were awarded the Nobel Prize for medicine and physiology in 1962.
I was 12 at the time, too big for my dad to sit me on his knee, but I guess these guys deserved their Nobel Prize.
If my dad had read scientific research at the time, instead of working down a coal mine, he would have agreed.
He'd probably would say "Well, that's some mair o' Tamson's bairns".
Thanks for the post, Genghis,
As aye,
Andrew.

Dear Elizabeth,
The spelling of the word (BOUDICCA) may not be familiar to you, as the incorrect "Boadicea" is more accessible in the history of the 1st century A.D. in Britain.
Yet the genomic evidence has been completely established that you are directly related to the queen of the native tribe of Iceni (Norfolk, Suffolk, and part of Cambridge-shire).
I'll say no more for now, apart from the obvious: the total body count between your forces and the Romans ran into over 100,000 before you took your own life (poison?).
Check out your history, Elizabeth: there should be movies about this !
As aye,
DNArew.

Oh, no.................!!! By poison? Hemlock or catnip? At least I was willing to go the way of my troops. A non-hypocritical leader, I suppose.

As for the body count, I now understand fully my karmic debt and commitment to peace. I remain faithfully in the process of honouring every one of them with a posting each.

Were the two, unfamiliar words root to the more common bodacious, as heard in everyday speech now? My affinity with that region and no doubt the descendants of my men has finally come clear. Was there under my command anyone of Partisanic nature?

Thank you so much for your commitment, your time, and your effort, Andrew. If you roust out any more of my lineage, please hasten to bring it to me. So many aspects of my life are falling duly into line. My humble thank you.

~ Elizabeth aka Boudicca

Andrew, I fear there may be a fault in the time line because our local Cats' Neighbourhood Watch Archivist, has unearthed (literally) the bones of an ancient Welsh royal figure. (See other thread on importance of Cats Neighbourhood Watch Schemes and Paula's Narnia involvements) Lizzytysh may well be the reincarnation of a wild bearded chieftain who frightened the life out of Italians in earlier times. Can I draw your attention (and a small picture of a charming sunset) to the enclosed website, which was discovered at the bottom of our stairs!!!!

The description of his nearly naked body covered in pictures of beasts was the first clue to the new hypothesis with regard to Elizabeth  (Caradoc ?)

I think we may be on to something here, Byron  . Time frames willing, we must remember I've had multiple lives. One does not necessarily displace the other. The plot thickens.....can I ever live up to my illustrious ancestry in this, one lifetime?

Streuth Elizabeth!! Multiple time life lines?
Not only could you meet yourself face to face, but face to back, back to face, back to back, and heaven forbid, (my own worst nighmare) in my mirror as well.

Me in your mirror should be such a bad thing, Byron? Or you and I having shared the same identity....perhaps we were schizophrenics together or MPD's. Gosh....the possibilities are endless. I do hope our dearest Genome Andrew has judiciously followed up on your latest Eureka! I'll check my palm for the multiple time life lines and see what appears. Hmmm.........it appears I may already be in overtime. Another lifetime to the rescue?. Perhaps I can become my own descendant, just in the nick of time. Oooooh, I love the concept of time. Endlessly fascinating. Unable to find streuth in my dictionary, I've concluded it to be short for Super Sleuth. N'est-ce pas?

Streuth, is very old English which has been used for at least 20 years. Actually, it's a shortened version of "G-d's truth!". Like Good bye is short for "G-d be with you". Or breakfast is short for "I'm bloody hungry, where's me corn flakes".

Hmmm....didn't realize the origins of Goodbye....and, of course, the other two are nearly obvious  . And streuthly, I do appreciate your etymology lessons.

And, no, as I recall, that was Ratchett  .

Byron has had to go for a lie down in a darkened room. Before he left, he asked me to tell you all that just before he closed his tired, old, blood-shot eyes, he was thinking of you as you used to be, when you all frolicked together on the sandy cove near to Hydra's sewage outflow, on those warm, balmy evenings, when most of you got smashed out of your skulls and made it clear to anyone called p that they were a waste of space. Byron wanted me tell you that he misses you all terribly, and as soon as the armourer has repaired the sight, he won't miss you again. I laid his wrinkled, bald, spotty, dandruffless, lopsided head on his favourite pillow, and as he clutched his grubby teddy bear to his bosom, he told me to ....... Anyway. Byron has now gone to sleep and the injection was enough to knock out an elephant. Good night and G- bless

Byron

Where did you find that 18 year old photo of me? ( http://www.shropshire-promotions.co.uk/SS-1.html )

Those were the days when I was young and the only thing that mattered was where the next pint was coming from and s*d the hair cut - now it's so different wheres the next pint coming from and wheres the next hair falling out.
