Thank you so much, Diane :) .

Even metaphorically, I'm glad she'll be with you.

Thank you, again. :) Yes  ~ I, too, try to restrict my meetings to this life. As much as I believe in it, better not to take that chance :D . What if one of us loses the directions in transition? However, some of my partings have, on occasion, been considered from a next-life perspective  .

Are you considering ~ at all ~ going to Berlin? Or, is it simply Out Out Out?

Love,
Lizzy

Yes, best, as you say, to meet this lifetime, just to be on the safe side  .

I did mention the possibility of Berlin to my husband, what with it being a fascinating place to visit anyway. But he had visions of endless Leonard Cohen discussions and music. I told him it wouldn't be quite like that, but he is very dubious. My son would definitely be bored (it's a matter of policy with him at his age). So, it's not looking good. (Unless I come alone.) Then there's the money. Oh, I'm tempted. Hate saying no to things. But still probably no :( . There will be other events in the coming years though, and I'll do my utmost to make one of them.

Love

I've not had much time to visit or contribute here recently, but just wish to say to all of you here who have suffered in your different ways, my thoughts are with you. I hope the future is brighter. Hold on to the good memories.

Love, Margaret

PS To Diane, Lots of people travel to Cohen events on their own. You won't be alone for long. My husband backed out of New York so I went by myself. He has since relented and went to the small gathering on Hydra this summer and is looking forward to Berlin. The budget airlines do very cheap flights to Berlin. 3 or 4 days there should not cost too much. I hope you can make it. :)

would definitely be bored (it's a matter of policy with him at his age).
 Sooooo true.

Oh ~ What a shame because your husband would be delighted with how low-pressure the Cohen aspects of the Events are. Please continue to encourage him. I can understand your waiting until another time, too, though. It's what I did [ended up regretting it, of course, as the one I bypassed was Hydra  ], and then went to NYC for my first one.

Amongst the many other factors, at the time of Hydra 1, was that I'm not much for 'fan gatherings'/'crowd activities' ~ or at least that's what I thought till NYC. I saw everything through a whole new lens there, though, and now won't miss another one, unless it's simply, totally impossible to attend.

He really would enjoy it ~ as for your son, there will be others, who are younger, and who enjoy tons of other music, in addition to Cohen. Sean and Jason were younger [though not as much as your son], and had a blast!

In any case, there's still Edmonton [but much further for you] and Hydra in between Berlin and Edmonton. As for us meeting in this lifetime, I'll be returning to England, too [not sure when, just that I will] ~ and, perhaps, then 8) .

Love,
Lizzy

Hi Margaret ~ I came back to say Hi, as ours were Submitted at identical times. Yeah, Diane ~ listen to Margaret :D . For the most part, it's simply [and wonderfully! as we have such a deeper, common bond] people meeting people ~ and then 'having coffee over' Cohen. Know what I mean? As she said, her husband went and really enjoyed himself :D .

Margaret, thanks for your kind thoughts.

I love going to places on my own (as well as with others) so that's not the problem. It is more that I have already recently taken some breaks separate from my family, to take part in other interests and visit old friends and so on. I was hoping for us to spend time away together next year, so that one would have to be weighed up.

Ali, I'll ask him again to come to Bristol. Never know...

You lot don't give up, do you?

Is there deadline for booking for Berlin? (just wondering, not deciding anything, OK? )

Lizzy, I just saw that you are coming to England! Great, be sure to let me know when so we can arrange to meet, and maybe squeeze in a small 'extra' LC gathering :D .

Diane

PS You have no idea how horrified my son would be if I told him I was taking him on a Leonard Cohen holiday  . (I do note what you say, but he is at that early teenage stage where it is just so uncool to do stuff with your parents, let alone something to do with Leonard Cohen )

 I will, Diane, for sure ~ it won't be for a year or so, though  , so plenty of time. I was there this past summer 8) .

No, we don't give up....if you ever get to one [formal or otherwise], you'll understand why :D .

Your reasons make good sense, but sure hope you can get registered. The primary 'deadline' is about # of openings left vs. a particular date, though in the final stretch, a date does come into play, if it's not filled up, yet.

Love,
Lizzy

Hi Diane,

the deadline for Berlin is set by the No. of Max. Participants (250). Currently there are 143 registrations - so still plenty of space.

The event fee is 99 Euros currently but it will go up to 109 Euros on January 1, 2006 !

My daughter Johanna (then 19) will probably be there, too. She is absolutely not into LC. Paula's daughter Megan has already registered.

Yes, and Megan is very very cool. Johanna [given her parentage] has got to be, too.

Cheers, Lizzy and Henning. Thanks for the info. I'll be sure to let you know if I change my mind.

Looking forward to seeing you in the UK, at least, Lizzy.

Good wishes,

Hey, I only just noticed your last entries Lizzy and Ali. Well, yes, you beat me into submission. Must admit, you didn't have to break too many bones, though. How cool that I have a new group of friends, care of the LC forum, and we're all going on a beano to Berlin.

Thank you. This is very nice, Fljotsdale. I particularly like it because it reminds of the final words in that long but wonderful Meatloaf classic that I sometimes play at full volume:

". . . and the last thing I see is my heart, still beating, still beating; breaking out of my body and flying away - like a bat out of hell!"

I can't stay because I'm reading a book. Donald Shimoda has just stepped off the water onto land, and sunk up to his waist in soil and grass.
